Hey Alicia,

I did watch last weeks episode where you were pregnant.  I had never watched this program and it was entertaining.  It is sort of reminds me of the Desperate Housewives.  The episode that you had us preview the week before at the Farmer's Market must not have been part of this series as I did not notice that you were pregnant in that episode but it was cute because here you were able to play a healthnut getting the guy to drink a healthy vegetable drink with extra pollan, etc.  Looks like a fun part for you to play in.

I hope all is going well in your world.  Would love to hear more blogs with your hubby.  The one about the basket ball shoes was a hoot.  Glad you guys can play and have fun with trying to make a difference in your purchasing habits.  It helps create more awareness for others.  I am so hopeful that more and more people learn about what they are eating and how it causes harm to sweet beings that don't deserve the abuses of our species.

Just another thought on this, I was in a blog with other vegans and vegetarians discussing the differences and how this vegetarian had no idea that in order to make cheese, a young calf's stomach lining is used in the product "rennet" to make the texture of cheese.  This lady was shocked to learn that consuming cheese does harm a very young calf.  This is the work that is important to get out there.  Thank you for the time that you spend talking about these subjects that people are so often unaware of.

Bless you ~ Rhonda

I wish I could play this video but I'm in Costa Rica and it won't let me. ;(

meh-vflQF1ybI.png The uploader has not made this video available in your country. Sorry about that.Uwe???

Saw the episode last week.....So CUTE!  : )

Seeing that show always manage to cheer me up... I had an idea for a blog, maybe a doctor could guest-blog about the effect various kinds of cancers have on peoples before they die of that...

Absolutely Hilarious!!! Lol!

The amazing Jane Goodall is continuing to raise awareness about chimps' plight with a new movie called Chimpanzee. Here's the trailer:

In a recent blog for the Huffington Post, Goodall says that the chimps desperately need our help:

"[Their] numbers have plummeted over the past hundred years. ... They are in 21 countries but spread thin...I hope that people will understand that they matter as an individual. Every single day the choices they make will have either negative or positive impacts on the environment, on animals and on human health. So it's really, really important to live each day knowing you make a difference."

A portion of the film’s proceeds will go to the Jane Goodall Institute, so go see this movie, and get everyone you know to see it, pronto!

What do you do to make a positive difference in the world each day? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

"Yesterday, I shared ten great eco docs to watch for Earth Day. One that really piques my interest is No Impact Man, about eco writer and activist Colin Beavan and his family.

I haven’t watched the whole film yet, but the trailer has me intrigued! In a nutshell, Colin and his family commit to a full year of living without making any impact on the environment – that means no takeout food, toilet paper, TV, electricity…all in the middle of Manhattan! It sounds intense, but he and his family seem to have a great sense of humor, and the doc looks informative and funny.

See what goes down over the Beavans’s no impact year by streaming the whole film on Netflix or you can buy the DVD here. You can also get a bunch of eco-living tips on Colin’s blog, like this video reminding us how the "good life" isn't the same as the "goods life" (buying lots of stuff that's marketed to us everywhere). I love this, and I think it's so important! It's super quick and easy to watch, and it's great reminder for Earth Day:

A beautiful time-lapse video of Yosemite National Park:

For your viewing pleasure! A great documentary can be the best reminder of why we choose to maintain a kind lifestyle. In honor of Earth Day this Sunday, here are ten must-see docs:

  1. Flow – a film about the water crisis and the privatization of the world’s water supply. I watched this and it's so important to see. A truly great documentary and I wish everyone in the world would watch it. Please help me get people to see I by passing it along.

  2. Ken Burns: The National Parks: America’s Best Idea – a look at the stunning natural beauty of America’s varied landscapes and the pioneering leaders who fought to preserve it. I haven't seen this one yet, but I love Ken Burn's documentary about New York so I have no doubt that this one will be wonderful. I want to see it.

  3. Planet Earth –I hear this BBC series is a beautifully shot must-see!

  4. The Last Lions – This National Geographic documentary follows a pride of lions as they struggle to survive in an environment of dwindling resources. It made me cry a tad watching the promo. It looks wonderful.

  5. No Impact Man – a New Yorker and his family attempt to live in Manhattan for a full year without leaving any impact on the environment.

  6. March of the Penguins – beloved documentary following the lives of penguins in Antarctica. Kid-friendly!

  7. Microcosmos – This looks like an amazing documentary about the lives of insects – incredible photography for all you film or photography fans out there! The little part I saw had an insect whose face looked like a wise, old ape. It's amazing when we see up close how complicated and special they are.

  8. Dolphins – Deep Thinkers – a BBC documentary examining the extraordinary intelligence of Dolphins

  9. The Cove – an expose of the cruel practice of dolphin hunting in the waters around Japan. This is supposed to be an absolute must-see amazing one.

  10. An Inconvenient Truth – Al Gore’s documentary about global warming. I think this had a very big impact on people's openness to making changes. It seemed to open a lot of minds.

What other nature & eco documentaries do you love? Share in the comments below!

Suburgatory

Yay, "Suburgatory" airs! So fun to see Jeremy again! And I had so much fun with all of the cast members.

Read my blog about our behind-the-scenes shenanigans here!

As described on the official site, “George [Jeremy Sisto] becomes smitten with a woman he meets at the farmers market.”

Filming the show was so much fun, and Bear visited me on the set every day.

Who is your favorite character on “Suburgatory”? I just love them all, everyone is so funny in the show. Tomorrow's episode is on ABC at 8:30/7:30c, so set your DVRs!

Of course, Bear joined mama every day on the set of "Suburgatory" with dad. Here he is listening to us filming through the headphones. This photo was taken on the first day on set, while I was shooting the final scene of my first "Surburgatory" episode with Jeremy Sisto at the farmers market!

These were taken about three months ago, so Bear is about 8 months in these pics.

Vamps vampsvamps

For all of you New Yorkers, or anybody who’s going to be in the area, you’re all invited to the big screen debut of Vamps, the film I did with Amy Heckerling from Fast Times At Ridgemont High and Clueless. I really love Amy and the movie, and Krysten Ritter is in it. Also, I’m going to be there!

The screening is at BAM, Saturday, April 7th at 6:50pm with a Q&A with Amy following. You can buy tickets HERE. This is a festival, not the official release of the film – that comes next!

What’s your favorite Amy Heckerling film?

PS - I love that my EcoTools bag made a cameo is in that first photo!

Get Vegucated is a new documentary about three New Yorkers who give up their longtime love of meat and cheese to go vegan for six weeks. The film follows them as they reluctantly embark on the challenge, learn about factory farming, start to question their previous diets, and overcome their families’ skepticism.

If you'd like to see the film, you can host a screening or find out where you can get the DVD or attend a screening near you. Please do that – I have done this before, and it’s so great. Have all the people you love over and people you think would be interested or need to know this stuff. Have a great meal or just some delicious snacks, whatever you can do to make it yum. Just share.

I want to see this film. What is the best or most effective film you have seen?

behind the scenes of suburgatoryPin It

I’ve just recently finished working on the show “Suburgatory” (Of course I took Bear to work everyday for some boobs in between scenes…I know, I'm lucky!) and I got to work with my Hideaway and Clueless acting mate, Jeremy Sisto. It was hard to work with Jeremy, Alan Tudyk and Gillian Vigman, cause they had me laughing my pants off! I messed up quite a bit just giggling. They are hilarious, and Jeremy is so playful and silly and fun. I would literally have to say, “Stop talking to me.” so I could concentrate. We loved working together again.

Also Jane Levy is adorable and lovely and strong and has it all together. I would stare at her, because I wanted to kiss her face, or squish it - she is a beautiful girl, inside and out.

I am such a fan of the show. Check it out and see if you like it too.
