WiiFit
Have any of you seen some weight loss after using the WiiFit?
I haven't seen any weight loss, but I can tell you that it has been effective in muscle toning.
I was just thinking about this the other day.  My WiiFit has sadly just been sitting in my apartment for a while... And I heard they came out with a new Wii FitPlus.  This one is only $19.99 for the new program if you already have the equipment and it allows you to create a seamless workout routine rather than stopping every minute or so to pick a new activity (that doesn't really do the trick if you ask me...workout-wait-workout-wait...definitely not as effective as it could be).  But I have seem some weight loss in my friends that have commited to it.  Just 30 mins a day.  And it's sort of motivating in itself because if you haven't been on in a while, it'll ask you why and sort of pressure you into coming on everyday hahahaha.

Does anyone have the Fit Plus?? I'd love to know if it's more effective and worth the extra few bucks...
I received the Biggest Loser game for Wii for Christmas. It works with the same balance board as the Wii fit. I really like it and it is a much more challenging workout then the wiifit workout. I would reccommend it.
I just got the Biggest Loser game for wii and its fantastic! I actually broke a sweat doing the 35 minute intermeidate work out! I am starting a 4 week challenge with it today :)

I've definitely noticed results with the Wii Active. I am just as sore and out of breath with this game as with "regular exercise" haha.
There are actually better exercise games out there for the Wii than WiiFit.I remember reading a review by an author who reviews video games and is also in shape.  And in his review he said WiiFit  said he had a BMI of 24.15 which makes him "overweight" according to the game. The problem is he's currently at 7% body fat, so he's not overweight. The game actually recommended him to loose 14lbs, but he only has 12.5 of fat on him. So WiiFit is encouraging him to loose muscle.

Here is a link to the Amazon Discussion Page for WiiFit where the above mentioned review list better alternatives  for Wii Exercise games than WiiFit.
Just look for the post by Alexander Lucard.

And here is a link to Alex's blog and a post where he explains why WiiFit is bad.
10 Reasons Why WiiFit Sucks

Hopefully this is helpful to some of you out there, and helps you get more out of your video game exercise time.
When I first got the wiifit I used it EVERYDAY now it just sits there. I really should start it back up.

I saw muscle tone, not so much weight loss. The only weight loss I saw was when I watched myself because I knew I had to do the "Body Test" the next morning smiley-sealed.gif
love love love the wii-fit!

I have to say a couple of things here....first of all, it IS possible to lose weight on the on wii fit.  Secondly, there ARE more challenging programs out there....however, if you are a fairly new exerciser, the wii fit will work for you!!

as far as some of the comments about why the wii fit is bad-I don't necessarily agree with some of the points. It's important to get down to the 'basics' which are:

3500 calories=1lb fat
In order to lose a pound a week, you would have to create a calorie deficit of 500 calories/day.  You can achieve this by:
-reducing the amount of calories eaten per day
-exercise
-a combination of both

Personally speaking, I feel that it's 'easiest' to achieve a 1lb per week weight loss by a combination of exercise and decrease in calories consumed.

Is the wii fit the 'best' way? Not if you are an athlete....but is it beneficial for the general population and formerly sedentary people? Absolutely.  It just needs to be used in the 'right' way.

*I am going to mention the site that I get my wii-fit routines from*
www.wiifitroutine.com

I do an hour a day in addition to a good half hour of aerobic activity and have seen decent results!!!
I also want to mention that BMI is in fact NOT the best measure of body fat....especially if you have a 'larger' frame or are more muscular.  BMI doe NOT take into account the amount of lean muscle mass-so the numbers will be higher for people who are muscular or athletic.

I love the WiiFit Plus. It has a lot more games and more personalized workout options. But I think I saw the best results from the Wii game My Fitness Coach. It makes you take a physical fitness test before beginning a workout, and just the test made me sore!
I have had the Wii Fit Plus game for a while, and enjoyed it, but have really been wanting to try out something else on it.  Well, my fiance got me the Biggest Loser game for my Birthday on Tuesday.  I did it for the first time yesterday, and Bob and Jillian kicked my ass!!  I haven't sweat that hard in a LONG TIME!!  And what is sad, is that I feel obligated to use it, because I don't want to let America's best trainers down..hahaha!  I know for sure I'll be seeing results with this!  I highly recommend it and just reviewed it (after a day) on my blog!

I think the reason that I love my WiiFit so much is because it makes me really laugh at myself.  I've never had a workout where I'm doing more laughing than anything.  It's hilarious and theraputic.
