Welcome to The Kind Life
Hi I am Gina I have been a vegetarian for several years. It has gotten WAY easier finding foods. Many restaurants now have veggie burgers that did not know what meat- free is at one point. It is still hard at times. I want to be vegan but I feel like milk/ eggs and other animal products find its way into many things you may not think. Like many I plan to start the new year healthier. I am hoping advice from wonderful people like you can keep me on track. I got the no meat thing down- I just bought a PETA shirt that says MEAT SUCKS. Very true but cheese, sugars and other not so healthy things is what I need work on. Good luck to everyone else! Think about the animals!

Hello, my name is Tedra and I am in the process of trying the Kind Diet out.  I never thought about not eating meat until I read Alicia's book.  She really opened my eyes to a lot of things.  Plus the fact that I'm sluggish, fat and anxious.  I want something better for my life.  And want to be around for my family.  I was wondering where I needed to start but after reading some of the post I'll just find a couple recipts to try and go from there.  I've never gone meatless so this will be interesting but I'm sure the more I do it the better I'll feel.  I've already made some changes like switching from skim to Almond Milk or egg substitute.  so now we'll see where taking it all the way will get me.  I look forward to posting my results and reading more inspiring stories.

Hi All!
My name is Maggie, and I am from northern Illinois. I have been a vegetarian for 12+ years, and today is the day I am finally going vegan!! I have thought about becoming vegan for a long time, but have a love affair with cheese and buttercream frosting. I received Alicia's book yesterday, as a Christmas gift, and couldn't put it down all night. It was the push I needed to finally make a change, both for myself and for the well-being of all creatures on Earth.
My family and friends (with the exception of one of my brothers and my boyfriend) are not supportive of my vegetarianism, so I can imagine they will not be supportive of a vegan lifestyle as well. However, I hope all the benefits of a compassionate lifestyle will shine through and my words will no longer fall flat with them. Plus, I am hoping that my boyfriend, too, will see the advantages of this lifestyle and shortly follow suit.
Anyhow, good luck to all you new vegans, vegetarians and those of you who are starting to make small changes! And congratulations to those of you who have already been successful in achieving a vegan or superhero lifestyle. I hope, soon, I will be one of you as well :-)

Hello :) My name is Christina. I'm 31 and a mother of 4 (11, 10,5 and 3months!) For years I have been pushing for our family to be at LEAST vegetarian (before I had my oldest son, I was vegan) but my husband has a hard time with it. Recently he has had a change of heart and is on board :) .  So I am researching new meal ideas!
I really pushed for us to change in 2007 when I saw myself on TV on a reality show I was on and I really hated how I looked. I used to be athletic and healthy but have gradually become chubby and tired all the time. Video and photos can really change you lol! I think its great there is a community supporting the lifestyle and I'm sure participating will really help tremendously!
Good luck to all of you and hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!
Hello,

Inbar from Israel here (living in Germany now).

A vegetarian for more than 20 years (I as 13), vegan for almost two months.

Happy about the choices of my life and enjoying every second of the new challenging path that I took (was tough last weekend in Amsterdam where Soy Latte was not a common thing...smiley-cool.gif).

I am not a preaching vegan but I do try and bring to people with "potential for vegan life" some revolutionary ideas (what? no other creature consumes mother's milk, of ANOTHER creature? - what? they inject water to the calves? WHAT? Veal is a baby cow?! what? this amazingly good dish was vegan?!)

(I miss grilled cheese and salad with fried Halloumi cheese...I also miss ice cream).

Wishing you all a happy healthy day!
Bonjour.
my name is lauren and i have been flirting with the idea of being vegan for a really long time. i gave up red meat nearly 8 years ago and i never look back. after reading alicia's book i was convinced that this was the lifestyle for me, i have been plagued with digestive issues my entire life directly related to dairy and i really decided to stop hurting myself by eating "nasty" food. i must be crazy because i started this last week during the holidays!!! but i figure if i can survive this time of the year, i can survive anything. i am doing great and can't wait to go grocery shopping for my new life. my husband fully supports my efforts...even if he isn't onboard himself. i will be living in the pensacola, florida area for the next 6 months, which as i have found is not really a mecca for vegans, but would love to get in touch with others in the area.
i am really excited to have such a massive support group!

Hi everyone! I'm Katy, 37 years old, been vegetarian for over a year with my boyfriend.  We're sort of in the "flirting" realmn since we do go non-dairy often, but still eat it.  I'm reading The Kind Life and reading aloud some parts to him.  We're both intending to go vegan very soon.  We decided not to waste the food gifts we received for holiday gifts, but any food purchased will be vegan.
It will be exciting!
We have a blog where we talk about our food adventures gameluv.com/veg if anyone is curious.  Not trying to spam, I hope plugging myself is ok :)
I am so crazy-passionate-inspired by Alicia and the whole The Kind Life movement, I don't even know where to start! THANK-YOU for creating this beautiful, kind, and supportive place for all of us to learn and grow. After decades of dabbling as a vegetarian, I went ALL-IN as a vegan about 3 months ago. I have loved it SO much that today marks the beginning of my journey into Superhero! I'm giving it my best shot - and I think it's going to be pretty easy, considering how GOOD I feel. I'm drinking kukicha tea right now! My husband is a life-long carnivore, who routinely drank a full glass of milk after dinner. He is now a full-fledged Flirt (he will occaaaaaasionally have a little fish) but he hasn't had any other meat or dairy in three months and he doesn't miss it at ALL. He has LOVED every single recipe I've made from Alicia's book. THANK-YOU again - and I'm just so glad to be here!
Hi
I'm Eryn,20, in Florida, i've been a vegan for just under a year. I am loving this book and starting on the superhero diet TODAY! My boyfriend is a vegan as well and is going to try the superhero diet with me.

Most exciting thing that has happened in my meat-free world is my steak & junk food mother is going to try vegetarianism for the next month! She even borrowed a couple of my veg cookbooks to try. =)
Hey, this is Becky in Iowa. I've been vegetarian for 2 1/2 years now and for the last year have wanted to go vegan but haven't had the willpower to say "no" to cheese. Just started reading Alicia's book and already I love it! So well-written and conversational and incredibly informative. I don't think I'm ready to be a Superhero yet, but I hope that I can fully commit to being vegan. (Keeping my fingers crossed...)
My name is Francesca and I just started my vegan diet today. I had been thinking about becoming a vegetarian/vegan for a while and didn't know which way to go. I took a natural conservation course in college where I learned about sustainability and the benefits of vegan lifestyles on the environment, but I wasn't aware of all the negative effects on your body! I'm a graduate student so I still live with my parents while I'm in school, and I think this might be the one obstacle to staying on track. Not having to buy my own food this year has been a nice financial perk, but I think investing in a healthier diet is worth it. I just hope I don't get tempted by my mom's cooking!
Hello, my name is Judy and I'm a Chocoholic, Cookieholic and basic all around Crap-o-holic.    I'm just checking it all out- seeing what I can do to change my lifestyle.

I'm the mother of 2 boys- 14 & 11- who happen to love Boca-burgers but are picky in their food choices at times so I'm not sure how easy this will work with them.  We love fruits and certain veggies but also enjoy meat every once in awhile.

I hope to find some interesting ideas and suggestions on this website to assist me in breaking the "sugar" dependency while becoming at least some level of vegetarian.  For now I'll dip my toes in the water and see how it is.  One day at a time... right?
Hi everyone. I have been trying to sign on since the inception of the site and never could. Today I signed on from work and I'm finally here!
