I just went to several friends' concerts at my old college, and I ran into people who hadn't seen me since I went vegan 2 months ago. Everyone kept complimenting me and saying that I looked so good, and several even asked me what my skin and hair regimen were, because they wanted in on the secret! One direct quote is, "You are glowing with health! What did you do?" I was pretty shocked because I don't feel as if I look very different besides not breaking out as much. I told them I had gone completely vegan, and they seemed quizzical. My friend commented, "I would go vegan, but I wouldn't be able to give up baked goods or bacon." I was like...you don't give up baked goods by any means, and vegan bacon is pretty tasty...Anyway, I handed out vegan cookies that everyone loved, and several of my acquaintances asked for my email address so I could give them names of great vegan books and websites! I'm just really excited to spread the word and debunk some myths of veganism (give up baked goods? As if!), and I'm glad that being healthier has started showing in my physical appearance haha :). Does anyone else have success stories to share? :)
Yay!!! Good for you, I'm working on it. My best friend, who knows I've been vegan, said she had a dream about me last night looking svelte and smokin' hot. Does that count as success?
Thanks Karen! Did you ever try the Zevia Cola that I mentioned in another post? Obviously it would be an occasional treat, but it is safe for diabetics, and the sweetener is simply stevia leaf! Also, Angela--your friend was obviously having a premonition...Perhaps she should set up a psychic booth, because you are definitely going to be smokin'! haha go you! and thanks everyone else :).
So awesome Evie! I've also received a couple of compliments on my skin and one big success of mine since going vegan is finally breaking the weight plateau I'd been at for THREE YEARS! I've lost six pounds in the past few weeks and I feel absolutely fantastic. I've struggled with weight for so long and it's amazing that when it finally became about health and consciousness instead of calories and jeans sizes, the pounds started to come off. My family and friends were also a bit skeptical and resistant to my choice to go vegan, but they're seeing the difference in me and seeing that I have plenty to eat and am getting tons of nutrients every day. They're even trying some vegan recipes (some of which they know are vegan ahead of time, some they don't!) and they've been very impressed with everything. It feels wonderful to not only be "out of the closet" (I'd been flirting with veganism for a long time but was worried about how my family would react), but be sort of an ambassador for all that's glorious about a vegan lifestyle. I'm thrilled!!!
i recieved my first "you look so pretty today- your face is glowing" compliment today... two weeks in and i can feel the difference- glad to see people are noticing! I also convinced my husband last night to choose a bean/hummus/pita sandwich rather than stopping and getting a burger on his way home last night... MAJOR success! Keep it up Flirts!!!
