Nausea issues- not pregnant!!!
Since going vegan, I've experienced almost daily nausea- it suuuuccksss!  Has anyone had any response to dietary changes like this?  I've been to the dr to see if I was pregnant and have taken 2 home tests in the last two weeks- so this doesn't seem to be an issue.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking I will just go to the dr. again if this doesn't subside soon.  My non-vegan bf of course suggested I start eating meat again-- arrghhh!  Help!
I've been a vegan for almost one month now and I have felt like CRAP almost the entire time.  No nausea though, just weak and tired.   I get the same response from non-vegan friends that I need to eat meat also...not gonna do it!
Your body could be doing some serious detoxing?!?
Wow- one month and feeling like CRAP- I am feeling for you vegalicious!!  We have to hang in there with the naysayers all around us.
Stephanie- that could be what's going on and a I just need to push through.
It sounds like a detox issue or an allergy maybe?  Any particular foods causing it?
ack! paints4fun - super sorry you're experiencing nausea - that is NOOO fun. hope that it subsides soon.

and eek, vegalicious - one month, big hugs to you too.

You might want to try some ginger tea or peppermint tea. They usually help me with nausea! That is no fun!
I definitely agree with ginger and/or peppermint tea. Sometimes green tea makes me nauseous and sometimes I feel nauseous before my period.
I think you could still be detoxing, depending on what you ate pre-vegan, or you could have a food allergy. Try keeping a diary of what you are eating and notice when you start feeling nauseus and then you might have an idea of what's causing it.

hi there, so sorry!
not sure what you ate before and what you are eating now? if you post i can get help more...but in mean time try really hard to eat as superhero as posible...this will help your body so much....and all your sickness should go away....and it may be hard due to detox at first but you will feel the magic...sugar makes me nauseous if i have too often....
please let me know how it goes....
detox is good...but i want you to feel amazing...its coming!!! just go superhero for a few days and watch

ginger tea totally helps as ppl mentioned above. i have this ginger and lemon herbal tea which not only helps nausea but also stomach cramps during yur u no wat time of the month. i agree with alicias comment about going superhero..... ive been vegan for a while but id experience that nausea thing every so often. it could be due to the processed foods- while soy milk and stuff are better for you than normal milk for example, their still kinda processed. or you may have a food allergy you didnt notice before. if youve introduced a new food to your diet and having it alot maybe your allergic to that. id just think about exactly what you were eating before you went vegan (it could be hard to remember but just write it down) then all the foods your having now and see if theres anything that might be causing it... then pay attention to how you feel when you eat your food and after you eat it, and hopefully youll sort it out quickly. good luck!!

You might try a diet of JUST brown rice and steamed vegetables for a couple of days. This is a very bland diet and not likely to be allergenic.
IF this calms your nausea, then start reintroducing foods a little at a time for a couple of days at a time. If the nausea returns, look at what you have just eaten and stop eating it.
Hope this helps.

I experienced nausea for the first couple of weeks after switching to veganism...I think it was due to my body expecting one type of food (meat) and receiving another.  As Jamie mentioned, I stuck to a diet of brown rice, steamed veggies, and legumes for the first 2 weeks, partly because it was easy to digest, and partly because I didn't know what else to eat.  :)  My body has since become accustomed to the new diet though and I haven't had anymore issues.  Hopefully its just your body adjusting to the lack of meat/dairy and this will subside soon.  Thankfully I didn't have dairy withdrawls to contend with...I am lactose intolerant so I avoided it prior to becoming vegan.  If you feel really bad though, maybe consider adding back in a little animal protein and then slowly weaning yourself off of it, rather than quitting cold turkey??  Good luck to you!!
I experienced nausea when I changed my diet as well. After taking foods in and out of my diet I actually noticed it wasn't the food, but my vitamins that were causing the nausea. I think my body was finally getting more of the nutrients it needed from my diet change, so I was needing to change my intake of vitamins too. I took out all vitamins/supplements for a week, then started adding them back in one by one to figure out which ones were causing the issues. Good luck to you! Listen to your body!
Hi Everyone,
Well, it seems the source(s) of my nausea are stress related and dietary.  I have added back some meat to my diet and am working to lessen that over time.  I guess I'm back to Flirter status, but my body just couldn't handle it cold "turkey."  I felt defeated as I really believe in veganism and would love to be a superhero, but I was worn out.  I also engage in "tapping" it's an alternative EFT technique I learned from my wonderful therapist.  Together, these things have allowed the nausea to stop from impacting my life everyday.  I had lost weight (6lbs) and was feeling great ethically, but in reality- not so good.  I continue to work toward veganism and can hopefully gain superhero status, but in the meantime, here I am.  :)

Kelly, I find that too .. If I take my vitamin on an empty stomack I am sick. I find that I need to take vitamins with food, and with any change of diet watch what I am eating and see if I really need to vitamins I am taking.

Good Luck Paints - you are determined so don't be too hard on yourself! :)

Vegalicious - are you feeling better yet? have you tried modifying your diet, or checking if vitamins may be to blame?

:)
