Vegan Shampoo & Conditioner
torrino...unfortunately the formules aren't the same at all.  But if you are going to buy something by L'oreal  Paris (drugstore line) then everpure would be the way to go.  pureologywas purchased by l'oreal professional about 2 years ago.

Also to those with oily hair, try skipping the every day shampoo, You are actually causing your body to produce more sebum.  When you strip it away, you're body says "where'd it go, I should make more".  This increases your oil production.  So when you have a chance, wear a hat or put it up, or maybe just wash your bangs.  But try not to wash it everyday.
Thanks Terra. Will pick up desert essence next time I am at the store ;)

It is possible that you are allergic to sulfate. Almost all shampoos have sulfate in them, and occasionally people have allergic reactions to it. I use Pure ABBA hair care and I LOVE it. Most of their products are sulfate free and also free of any dyes and 100% vegan. Their line is a little pricey and depending on where you live might be hard to find. So if it is not possible for you to get your hands on some, next time your looking for shampoo try something sulfate free. It may make a huge difference. heres ABBAs website: http://www.pureabba.com/Home/Default.aspx Good luck!!

I mix some liquid castile soap with tea (nettle) and water for shampoo and use a vinager rinse as conditioner.  If my hair feels a little dry on the ends i put on some organic aloe vera on as a leave in conditioner/gel.  shampooing every other day helps manage the oil.

Liz- I have thought of that. I have been using soapnuts for the past week and still have issues with my scalp. I think the water is the main culprit here. I will be moving soon and to make a long story short I have to buy my shampoo in bulk because I will need 5 months worth of shampoo. I know it sounds strange. I am going to check out Trader Joes and see what they have to offer. Awhile back I tried the no shampoo method and it was a disaster. LOL I looked like I had been hit by lightening.

I love Giovanni hair products!

I would say my hair is pretty normal, not too dry or oily, but i have an itchy scalp all the time! I've been using Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo and conditioner and I really like it. It's nice and clarifying (would work great for oily hair), makes you tingle, and helps with scalp issues. It's organic and cruelty free and vegan.

Aveda also makes some clarifying shampoos, the Rosemary Mint and Scalp Benefits would work well on a daily basis.

Also.... just because a product is vegan and/or sulfate free ( PUREOLOGY and LOREAL) does NOT make it safe or healthy. read your labels.

When I first went vegetarian two years ago, I found Giovanni at my local Whole Foods and have been using it ever since.  One thing that I have found, regardless of if you are using the tea tree version or not, is make sure you are washing the shampoo completely off of your scalp.  If that is not happening, it can leave a film on your scalp that will be itchy and flake off.  I tend to wet my hair, shampoo, and then flip my hair over and let the water rinse out under my shower, making the water take the shampoo away from my scalp with more accessibility.  I noticed an improved difference after about 3 times of trying it this way. Sometimes when my ends are a little dry, I use their deep conditioning treatment.  Love their products!  Even their cucumber body lotion is amazing.

I guess I will be going to Whole Foods today. Thanks for all the great tips. :)
I have tried every product it seems and I do use loreal everpure, I really like it...I only wash once a week and have super thick hair down to my butt. Nothing else really got my hair "ungreasy".....still on the hunt for something better and more clarifying, Giovanni didnt work for me.
I have recently discovered a brand called DAVINES...it is amazing...a bit expensive but totally worth it :)
I use the Yes to Carrots brand. The yes to tomatoes one is moisturizing and you can buy it at target.
I am curious about which beauty products Alicia uses.  Such as shampoo, conditioners, and cleansers.
Terra, I actually stopped using Shampoo and Conditioner all together. About 13 days ago I found information on using Baking Soda as a wash. I tried it and totally love it. I f you are interested I also wrote about it and my experience with it including pictures of my hair.

My sister has REALLY oily hair and is on day 8 of the BS wash and is noticing her hair getting less and less oily.
I'm a hairstylist , I love and use a vegan line called Davines. Go to Davines.com to find a salon near you. They have hair , skin, and haircolor. Love Love. I have also used Aveda, Pureology, and Alterna. All are good but my favorite is Davines.
