Vegan Shampoo & Conditioner
Has anyone tried Chaz Dean's WEN hair product?
Sheila- my mom swears by this stuff and actually got her hair dresser and half the salon into it!  It revived her hair which had been very brittle from a medication.  She called the other day to ask them (for me) if they test on animals, and they advised that they do not, and also that they don't use animal ingredients.  Although I can't seem to find anything on the website to confirm.  So I'm curious what others have to say about this also because I'd really like to try it!
I recently started using David Babaii for Wild Aid Shampoo and Conditoner. It's 100% Cruelty Free.

WEN update!  I found an ingredient list for WEN (there's a link to it on their FAQs here- http://www.wenhaircare.com/faqs.php?pactvid=gfl6s7k6863ij2vt4a7n5994q9jng825 ) and it lists glycerin as an ingredient.  I called to ask if it's derived from animals and the woman couldn't comprehend what I was asking- after asking the same question in 3 different ways, she actually asked me if I wanted to know if "animals made the shampoo" hahaha!!  well anyway, so I called the customer service number and got a very helpful representative named Chris.  He advised that they do not test on animals and there are NO animal derived ingredients!!!!  it's "all natural" (whatever that means.. but hearing "no animal derived ingredients" was enough for me)!  I'm SO excited, I thought for sure it wouldn't be vegan after talking to that first person.  In case you're interested in asking questions yourself, the 2nd number I called was 800-964-1892. just ordered it and will let you know how it works!
Janine, thanks for all your research. I actually started using it last week. My hair feels so soft and healthy. Many people have commented. I would like a little more body. Going to experiment! I got my WEN at Amazon to avoid annoying auto ship.
Thanks again!

Janine, I just laughed so hard reading your post. The woman thought animals made the shampoo? HAHAHA I love that.
I've been using Wen on and off for over a year.  I do love what it does for my hair, it's feels soo soft, it looks and feels fuller, is less frizzy.  There is a learning curve, for a while I wasn't using enough of it and my hair was feeling heavy and waxy.  The only downside is that I find I take longer showers because of the amount of time you have to spend rinsing, washing, letting it sit.  I also seem to go through a bottle fairly quickly, so it can end up being expensive.  But I would recommend trying it, the results are worth it, in my opinion!
Terra- wasn't that hysterical?!  I was in silent hysterics but tried to remain composed (kind of).  Lauren- I saw that you're supposed to use a ton, like 30 squirts or something!  Did you use that much?  This is all new to me.  Thanks!!
Janine -  the amount depends on the length and thickness of your hair (there's a booklet that has instructions when you order...there are also instructional videos on Chaz Dean's YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/wenbychazdean). My hair is about an inch past my collarbone, and on the thicker side.  I started using 20 pumps (because I was so sure I wouldn't need more) but it was leaving my hair heavy and waxy, upped it to 35 and that still didn't make a difference.  I thought there is no way I need more than 35 pumps, this is crazy, maybe it just doesn't work for me.  So I stopped using it.  Then I picked it back up a few months later and tried 40, and that was the magic number!  The heavy waxy feeling dissapeared.  So, yes you have to use a lot...more than you think you really need!
Wow that sure seems like a lot of pumps? It would use up a whole bottle in nothing flat right? I didn't think the bottles looked all that large. I have been thinking of trying the Wen product but if it's too expensive maybe I used go for something a bit more reasonable. Sure would love to have nice hair like the girls have on the infomercial :)

Janine-Glad you kept your composure. I would have laughed uncontrollably.
40 pumps for Wen? Holy crap that is a lot of time in the shower. And an arm workout! Jeez.
My hair is lovin Pureology! I am too... It's good to the animals, environment and supports the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition! Kind of expensive, but I have learned a little goes a long way. My hair can't stick with one product too long (it likes variety) so I try to switch it up every few months... will have to try some of the suggestions above. Thanks guys!
Does anyone know the ingredients for David Babaii for Wild Aid products?

Just went to thier site, (thanks Ryel Toby) for mentioning it. I too am a WEN user, and do love it, but I'm also looking for more cruelty free products - I was wondering if there are any other "chemicals" in the Wild Aid products. Also learning about that too. I'm guessing if they are cruelty free, they wouldnl't have chemicals either, but ya never know.
Excited that the price is right - and you can purhcase at local Rite Aids!

thanks again for the mention

Hey guys:  I was an loyal Pureology user for years and do enjoy their products.  I know the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database isn't always the most accurate site, but after doing some research Pureology isn't completely natural and scores moderately hazardous (between 4-5).  However, I found a line called Max Green Alchemy and its AMAZING!  Trust me as someone who is uber-picky and high maintenance about her hair, this is a fantastic line.  It scores between 0-1 on Skin Deep, they are vegan, a 2008 Proggy Award winner AND if you go to their website they will send you a free sample of their shampoo and conditioner for 99 cents!   Visit http://www.maxgreenalchemy.com/ and enjoy!
I LOVE "live clean"! Their stuff is vegan, not tested on animals (100% cruelty-free), made with certified organic botanicals, (it's not all organic, but better than nothing!), the ones that I have are paraben, Sodium Laureth/Laurel Sulfate and DEA Free, and Biodegradable. And they work and smell great!! They're available sooo many places. (London drugs even). They're awesome!!!!! Alex
