ive never tried Sea Vegetables although i know they are good for me, especially being vegan. But they are kind of expensive...i bought wakame and havent tried it yet, but do specific kinds go with specific dishes exclusively?? or can i use one kind of all dishes?
Should i get arame and hijiki as well??

Hi,

I bought some seaweed at Whole Foods and then went to an asian grocery store for the rest. They  are less expensive at the asian grocery! I know different recipes call for different sea veggies. I just found the hijike for the recipes in TKL book. I hope this helps.

thats a great idea tiffany! i cant believe i didnt think of it, thank you! :)

The other thing to remember that you will not use that much when you are preparing your meals.  What you buy will last you for quite some time.  I soak my own beans almost all the time and I have not gone through my package of khombu we bought two months ago.
Tiffany, that is a good idea. I have an Asian market close by. I will look there. I have dulse flakes. I sprinkle them into my dishes, (tiny pinch). They are very salty, so a tiny pinch is enough. I have used it in all dishes where the recipe asks for salt. It is so much healthier than salt, and works the same!
I just bought some dulse flakes!  I'll have to give that a try!  Great idea Lisa!

What do you normally do with sea vegetables? I was thinking about putting some nori in my miso soup. I'm not a big sushi person though - any other ideas?
