vegan pregnancy blog coming soon!
I love it! with a whole food plant-based diet there is NO reason you cannot do it vegan. Protein, calcium, antioxidants and all the other macronutrrients and micronutrients are there for you straight from Mother Narure. Animal-based foods are only going to potentially harm your pregnancy and birth.
Be well,
Kelly
I wish I had been vegan during my two pregnancies!  I suffered gestational diabetes during both, had to give myself insulin injections with the first.  I'm sure I would have been much healthier eating vegan.
I'd like to know what to say to those who would argue that you need to eat animal products or your baby will grow up sickly and not as strong as meat eaters.
Oh I'm so glad you'll be doing this. Planning to have a family is coming up soon for me! I'd love to see any health stats out there for children of vegan pregnancies vs. non-veg pregnancies and a list of benefits of vegan pregnancies. Testimonies from vegan mommies would be great too!
Hey, it's so good to know that you're planning to do that. I'm vegan and have a lot of doubts about the issue. But I think most of my questions are related to the vitamins, mainly calcium and iron, because people have different opinions in this case. So I'd like to know how to have a proper diet to guarantee the levels of them.

Also, I'd like to write an article about you or make a short interview to a Brazilian website where I have a column about veganism. Let me know if it's possible (give me your email or other contact, please).

Thanks,
Glauce

Vaccinations - most of them are produced on eggs.  Schools require them but I imagine some of them can be avoided.
Great picture!
I love the idea but wondering how doctors feels about it and if they're up to speed on the advantages and benefits.
Really looking forward to this!!
This is awesome!  I am finishing my Masters in Human Nutrition and have had a great response from the vegan community in New Zealand.  I think some of the most important things for all pregnancies are being vigilant in folate and B12 intake, regular exercise and working with a supportive doctor who does regular blood tests to give an accurate reading on what your body is doing.  Good luck all!
I shared this article with my sister who went vegan right after her pregnancy 4 mons ago when I gave her TKD. She is now planning to raise her son vegan. I thought this article was helpful in knowing the time frame of breastfeeding and introducing vegan foods and how to meet kids nutritional needs from newborns to teens while being vegan.

Gillian,
Tell "them" you'll be happy to share your children's growth stages with them if they share their children's growth stages with you! ;)
Perfect timing, as this is the year for me and my husband to expand or family. I'd love for you to include links to resources, both on the web and books to buy or check out at the library. I would also like to be armed with facts and other things to say to my non-vegan friends, family, and aquantances if they turn their noise up to the very idea.
i am a pediatrician, vegan and intend on trying to raise my children as plant based as possible (my husband loves a good steak)...i have many views on vaccines etc. so I will be interested to see what the consensus is.
I wish that I had known about vegan dishes while I was pregnant 13 years ago.  I most likely would have had an easier time.
Darn - I thought maybe you had some sort of "announcement" to make to all of us!smiley-laughing.gif
