Diva Cup & Menstrual Stuff---yup, I'm going there! :)
I love the diva cup! It's so much better feeling in regards to your body, and it's as environmentally friendly as you can get! I'm never going back to tampons
I've been using the Diva Cup for 2+ years and it's amazing. Just be sure to keep it as clean as possible and get the right size for your body/age and you'll never have a problem with it (at least I hope not). I can't imagine my period without my diva cup. I tried to use pads after and it's so uncomfortable and wet and with tampons I can feel how dry it is, but with the DC it's total comfort. Total boss to travel with and to do yoga with, no worrying about leakage on your favourite mat and one of the most eco-friendly product for this market. I reccoment Diva Cup to every girl I know.
My daughter (13) and I both use a cup.  We use the Lady Cups and love them.  They had the smallest size on the market.  This was important for my daughter especially.  They have different sizes and colors and great customer service.  It took a little to get used to, but I would never go back.
I won a Diva Cup recently for Earth Day and I can't wait to get it and try it this month.  I should be getting it any day and I'll let you know how I like it :)
Can these Diva Cups be found in stores??
I've just ordered a moon cup, very excited to try it out! I'm moving to China next year and I really wanted something reliable on the sanitary front to take with me.
@Roanne, I have seen the Diva Cups at my local Whole Foods...but am nervous to try one as I don't know if I can use it with an IUD.  But yes, I have seen them in stores.

Not sure why this topic isn't in Women's health but in any case...

Danielle, I have the non-hormone containing IUD and use the Diva Cup. No problems at all...works great. Have had both for about 8+ months or so. Started using the Diva Cup first. Just wanted to share since you seem hesistant to try.

Diva Cups vcan also be ordered from lunapads.com
That's great to hear!  I have read a few things saying that the "suction" from removing the cup can pull out the IUD so I was concerned.  Was planning on asking at my next dr. appointment, but it isn't until midway through June...I think I may give it a shot!  Thanks, Kristina!

I've been vegan for 16 days now, and been flirting for 2 months. I actually didn't start Alicia's book until this month but I am absolutely LOVING it. totally obsessed. great book.
what i have noticed, even since flirting, is that my cycle is totally messed right now. i get it more often, like every 18 days ish. i got it 2 times in march. its much lighter and i definately have waaay less cramping, back pain etc. i still get a tummy ache on the first 2 days but no pms. i used to get that crying day too, but not anymore.
has anyone else had more frequent periods?

I sure hope the suction from the Cup wouldn't cause the IUD to be pulled out! :-)

Judging from the brief "pain" experienced with the IUD being inserted, I would think it would be pretty hard to pull it out with some suction, but I s'pose it could be possible. My annual is coming up around the same time as yours and I'll ask my doctor. My husband is actually an OB/GYN himself, so I'll ask him too (ha!) except he had never heard of the Diva Cup before I started using it myself.

I have been using my Diva Cup for around 2 yrs and absolutely love it!!  MUCH more comfortable than tampons and far fewer leaks than tampons.  And so great, budget- wise and eco- wise!

My experience with the Diva Cup was HORRIBLE.  I am an unusually small girl (my gynecologist has to use the child sized speculum and I often experience pain during sex), so I should have known that the diva cup was a bad idea for me.  Their website had assurances that the cup worked for young girls and virgins, so I thought it was worth a try.  I struggled for a good half hour to get the cup in and when it finally did go in it wouldn’t come out!  I tried to get it out for HOURS.  I finally had to go to an urgent care to have it removed by a doctor.  Although I explained that the cup was for menstruation, the doctor treated me like I was some sort of sexual deviant who was sticking random objects up my hoo-hah.  He told me, quote “ You are a very stupid young lady.  This is dangerous!”  The removal was incredibly painful (it felt like my uterus was being ripped out of my body from the suction) and left me at a high risk for infection and unable to use tampons for the rest of the duration of my period.  It was also one of the most humiliating experiences I’ve ever gone through.

I’m not sharing this to dissuade anyone who currently uses the cup and loves it, I just think people trying it for the first time should know of the potential problems, especially if they are on the small side down there.

I stick with organic cotton tampons now.  I might look into the luna pad for overnight and hanging around the house though.

You shouldn't get any suction when you remove the Diva cup. You should break that seal before removing it by pushing against one of the outside edges. When you insert it, you fold it into a U-shape, and you're basically doing the same thing when you take it out, just not as tight of a fold. Once you break that seal, you should be able to pull it out with no suction at all. If you just try to yank it out, you will get suction but, trust me, you won't do it more than once! It hurts! But if you release that suction before pulling it out, it doesn't hurt or pull at all, and it certainly should not affect your IUD at all.
