i just started using the Diva Cup and I love it. It was an easy transition for me and a much better option than the tampons I had been using!!

Kim-
The first few cycles after going off the pill will suck. Mine were worse than on the pill. However, I have been off it for over a year and a half now and I feel soooo much better. I am a new vegan and I recntly had my first cycle since adopting the new life style. Let me tell you, I had only ONE day of cramps and they were barely noticeable and completely tolerable compared to what I was used to previously on and off the pill. I used to pop ibuprofens and curl up in a ball in pain. My cycle was a debilitating experience for me. The flow is also much much lighter. I used to have to wear a tampon and a pad, gross. You will definately experience changes and LOVE them. <3 best wishes
OMG! i LOVE my DivaCup! I wish more women knew about it!!! =D
This should probably be in the women's section =)
I love my cup too! Smurfy I am so sorry you had that horrible experience. That doctor sounds awful, I can't believe he would talk to you like that. The first time I used my cup I thought it was stuck too and I got a little freaked. I had to read the instructions 3 times. It took me about half an hour to get it out! I learned that you absolutely have to release the suction before getting it out otherwise it can be painful!
TMI alert** What works for me in getting out my cup is I bear down as though I'm going to push it out, and use my finger to break the suction (yeah, I stick my finger almost all the way to the top of the cup) and keep it slightly squished so the suction doesn't come back. Never try to pull it out unless you already broke the seal! Then I just gently pull it out while pushing it out with my muscles. When I feel it's almost out I just relax and remove it slowly. No pain this way!
After the initial difficulties, now I am so happy I have it, and I don't find it bad to remove. I used to hate my period so much, I hated tampons and I hated pads but I didn't realize there was anything else out there! Disposable tampon and pad companies have all the money for advertising and they pay for some school programs too, so it's all we learn about. Sad because after I found the cup I am so much happier and in touch with being a woman. And no waste! Imagine how much we used to throw away every month.
not to sound stupid but....what is a Diva Cup?
Check it out at http://www.divacup.com/ :)
I have The Keeper as well, which is made of natural gum rubber. They also make one called The Keeper Mooncup which is made of silicone. I love my Keeper! Here's a link if anyone wants to check it out...
I am also in love with my DivaCup. It definitely took a couple of cycles to get used to, but now I couldn't dream of going back to icky pads and tampons. So much easier to use while travelling as well rather than toting around cardboard boxes and bags of supplies everywhere!
