I should really be working on a lab report for school but a quick break won't hurt. I am Kasia and I live in Canada. I am a new vegetarian (just over 2 months). I can't say I'm a full on vegan just yet but I'm working my way up there. I love this lifestyle and I can really see myself sticking to it. I decided to change my eating habits because of my love for the planet, for our fellow creatures and for my health. I always thought the idea of being vegan/vegetarian was cool but wasn't sure if I could handle it. I recently took a philosophy class on morals and values and had to write a paper about the morality of eating meat and using animals for experimentation. I came to the conclusion that I could not longer justify what I was doing. When I watched the first 10 minutes of the documentary "Earthlings" it pushed me to take the plunge. Anyway, here I am! I feel so good. I don't know if it's the good food or the weight lifted off of my shoulders (or a combination of the two) but I feel so happy. I am still a little weary about tofu, seitan, vegan cheese... and some of the other "new" foods found in vegan cuisine but I'm taking baby steps. I haven't cooked tofu on my own yet but I've been checking out local vegetarian restaurants in my area.I just wanna say hello to everyone! I have no friends or family that are vegan so I have found this great community of vegans and vegetarians online. I'm very excited.
p.s. I'm curious about vegan cheese and nutritional yeast... any info/tips would be great.
