Mmmmm! I LOVE wheatgrass! It was an adjustment at first for me but then we bought a patch of it at the farmers market and started growing it at home, we got a press off of Craig's List for cheap and now we can make it at home! It's so much tastier when it's fresh too, it's sweeter.
I actually like the flavor. It has kind of a sweet aftertaste. I'm actually looking to get an organic wheat grass kit at some point.
I love wheatgrass... it tastes sweet and fresh to me and leaves me feeling radiant...
Is it gluten free? I've seen conflicting opinions... thanks for the advice!
I love the idea of answering questions up here in the posts. Have never been tempted by wheatgrass, but good to hear from someone with knowledge on the topic. I love knowing the facts behind what I'm eating!
Same question as Allie. My wife has celiac and has been avoiding it. I enjoy the energy boost but decided not to grow it because of the gluten concerns.
Wheatgrass is one of those things I really WANT to like. Sadly, however, on the few occasions that I've tried it, I have felt really sick to my stomach. Now that I'm a superhero, however, I might try it again. Loving my vegan life.
I think if wheatgrass tastes bad, it's because the roots are not deep enough, and mold and bacteria are making their way in.
I always buy frozen wheatgrass, that's grown outside, juiced and flash frozen within an hour. (Canadian brand called Evergreen)
It's totally delicious and I have a shot every morning!
I am a fan of wheatgrass and actually feel like it tastes fresh. I definitely agree that it tastes like the lawn, but I have happy feelings about walking outside and smelling fresh-cut lawn, so the taste is nostalgic for me.

i love wheatgrass! it's so refreshing and makes me feel like superwoman :) i take 4 - 6 shots per week.
I love wheatgrass but only get it when I go to a smoothie place because it's easily accessable there but i'd like to incorporate it in my daily morning routine. What is the best way to get it at home? I've seen powders, etc and i'm not sure if it packs the same nutritional pucnh that way? Thanks!

I have read a lot about Wheatgrass and been a huge believer. Everything I have been taught from the Optimum Health Institute to the "Wheatgrass" book says, that the grass itself doesn't have any gluten until it is in the "jointed" stage, and that isn't when grass growers juice it. In order to get all the great ingredients from grass you need to juice it before it joints (another word for becoming mature, and starting to get old) you want it in the baby fresh stage. Much of the wheatgrass is actually barleygrass.
I believe it is very good for you and won't harm anyone with Celiac disease, or even gluten sensitivities.
I'm a fan. I wish someone could clear up info on pine needle juice! thanks
