Best milk alternative

One of my first steps is to replace milk. What is the best to replace dairy milk with? Almond or soy milk?  I guess I want to make sure it will go good on my cereal and will cook well with things. I heard soy milk isn't great for cooking.  Any thoughts?

I use Almond milk and Rice milk.  I havent tried hemp milk yet but heard it was an aquired taste. Good Luck!

I personally like almond milk the most because I feel like it has the least noticable flavor.  Soy always tastes so heavy to me in things.  I use almond milk in baking and sauces and stuff and never notice that it's not cows milk.

As for drinking, I just have to give a shout out to Soy Rice milk (not separately, the kind that is both of them mixed together).  Nobody ever listens to me when I tell them to try it, but it's delicious.  I don't like soy  milk, and I don't like rice milk, but magic happens when they come together.

You really have to try different ones for yourself. I used to love almond milk in my cereal, but suddenly stopeed liking it, and now I love rice milk. I like hemp milk in smoothies. Oat milk wasn't too bad, not a huge fan of coconut milk but my boyfriend loves it. I try to stay away from processed soy, so I rarely use it, though the edensoy soy/rice blend like Jessie mentioned is good. I've tried all the ones I could, but the longer I've been vegan the less I use processed anything, so I don't use plant milk too often now.

The Best you can do is just keep trying them out and diffeent brands of different milk actually make a huge difference, some rice milk i find tastes like chalk others are super yummy, as i was never really a milk drinker (hated the taste) i loooove this stuff. Does anyone know of any good cheese alternatives though i mostly just use it on pizza as i was also never really a cheese eater either? (couldn't get past the taste of it either... don't shoot.)

I love love hemp milk, although I have never been a big milk drinker, it is so creamy and tasty, although if you love cow milk I'm not sure how it compares. I use it for the creaminess in recipes and in hot cereal or oatmeal. For recipes with cheese (like the cheesy oozy guac dip, I use daiya cheese. It melts wonderfully and is tasty).

I really like 'Rice and Easy' brown rice milk - so nice in cereal! For tea (we drink a lot of tea in the UK) I use organic unsweetened soya milk. It's also great in lattes and baking. I like almond milk although it's a little harder to come by so I do rely on soya and rice. I've never tried hemp milk  but it sounds fantastic. Try the different brands that are out there - they don't all taste the same. We've experimented with various soya and rice milks and now know exactly what suits us.

Almond milk all the way!

Almond milk is my fav, not big on chocolate almond milk but chocolate rice milk mmmmm so good!

Just tried the chocolate almond milk, it is VERY chocolately  . . . I can only drink a little.  The vanilla is way too sweet for me.  I like the original the best.

I forget who makes it, it is kept at room temperature, but there is a chocolate peppermint soymilk for the holiday season that is delish, warm or cold.  There is also a pumpkin spice soy milk that we get for a treat sometimes around this time of year.  Mmmm.

We like unsweetened vanilla almond milk and vanilla rice milk.  I give my toddler choc almond milk cut with rice milk because she won't get her calcium otherwise...

French Momma, what brand do you get of unsweetened almond milk?  I can only find "original" which I assume has added sugar just like "original" soymilk.  I was hoping to find unsweetened.  ..

Blue diamond brand sells 'original' unsweetened, 'vanilla' unsweetened, and even 'chocolate' unsweetened.  Some stores only carry it in the asceptic boxes on the shelves and not in the half gallons in the fridge section.

oh okay!  Thanks for the info!  I will look for it in those isles . . . silly that they don't make it in the refrigerated kinds.

I love rice dream, the chocolate is delicious!
