Hey Ann - there is a great Asian market at the corner of Manning and Bloor, right in Korea town. They have Umeboshi plums in the right - most aisle, along the wall, refrigerated section. Pickled and "prepared" not sure what the difference is. But try them out, you should find the plums no prob! :)
Make sure you read the ingredients carefully- I bought some umeboshi that seemed really inexpensive and found after I got home and read the tiny sticker with the ingredients translated into English, that they contained glucose and preservatives. I ended up going to the Big Carrot aka the Big Paycheque! I will check out the shop at Manning and Bloor though- much closer to home- thanks for the tip, Kate!
Problem ......I lived in a small town in rural Florida, and the only produce shopping I have locally is a major food chain. They don't carry the daikon. I got a few last week when I was at whole foods in Orlando but it is a 70mile round trip. Does anyone know if there is a substitue for daikon?
Has anyone had any success loosing weight with this tea?
I live on Long Island NY Nassau county where can i umeboshi plum for the tea.
So this isn't so much a tea as it is a soup then?
I've grated it up the night before, and make 2-3 days worth at a time... Anymore than that, and the grated daikon starts to stink up the fridge :)
I have bought the umeboshi plums at whole foods. Are they suppose to be so strong in taste. They seems very salty and sour.
Amy C mine came out the same way, very thick so I saved it to use in another recipe. I figured I did something wrong, but dont know what......
