Carrot-Daikon tea
Hi I've started drinking the weight loss tea which by the way is really good, my question is can I grate the carrot and daikon days ahead and store in the frig or does it have to be grated each day??? Alicia I love your book it has pointed my life in a whole new direction. You go girl :)
I think it would be okay, but they do say that the longer your produce goes after you've prepared it the less minerals and vitamens it has. However busy people must plan ahead and i think that pre-empts it. Plus i'm sure it would still have the great benefits. Try it and let us know if it's still as good as fresh.
I picked up most of the ingredients for the tea, however no luck finding the umeboshi plums. I live in Toronto and thought it would be at any of the health food stores. Any suggestions where I should look? Thanks : )
Check out any Asian markets around!
ok did I make this wrong?... grated the carrot and daikon (I didn't have plum so I just skipped this part) added the water, and it was pulpy as all get out!  like really thick... so I strained it and drank the liquid, which I liked, added a little of the pulp back in but there was a ton for the one serving... is that right??
Thats it!  Try eating it in a bowl as a soup and definitely get the plums.

Hey Ann - there is a great Asian market at the corner of Manning and Bloor, right in Korea town.  They have Umeboshi plums in the right - most aisle, along the wall, refrigerated section.  Pickled and "prepared" not sure what the difference is.  But try them out, you should find the plums no prob! :)

Make sure you read the ingredients carefully- I bought some umeboshi that seemed really inexpensive and found after I got home and read the tiny sticker with the ingredients translated into English, that they contained glucose and preservatives. I ended up going to the Big Carrot aka the Big Paycheque! I will check out the shop at Manning and Bloor though- much closer to home- thanks for the tip, Kate!

Problem ......I  lived in a small town in rural Florida, and the only produce shopping I have locally is a major food chain.  They don't carry the daikon.  I got a few last week when I was at whole foods in Orlando but it is a 70mile round trip. Does anyone know if there is a substitue for daikon?

Has anyone had any success loosing weight with this tea?

I live on Long Island NY Nassau county where can i umeboshi plum for the tea.

So this isn't so much a tea as it is a soup then?

I've grated it up the night before, and make 2-3 days worth at a time... Anymore than that, and the grated daikon starts to stink up the fridge :)

I have bought the umeboshi plums at whole foods.  Are they suppose to be so strong in taste.  They  seems very salty and sour.

Amy C mine came out the same way, very thick so I saved it to use in another recipe. I figured I did something wrong, but dont know what......
