charities in detroit

Thanks for sharing those great charities!  The company I work for (Artterro) partners with Goodwill Industries in Milwaukee.  They assemble our eco-friendly art kits, and they do a beautiful job!  Coincidentally, my boss is bringing our kits to the Natural Products Expo in Boston next week, and she can't wait to hear you speak!

I work at Compuware Corporation, our headquarters is in Downtown Detroit and October 2nd was Global Volunteer Day! All of our locations Globaly Volunteered with a Charity this day!

i love Food Not Bombs (http://www.foodnotbombs.net). they provide free vegan and vegetarian meals, made primarily from surplus food that would otherwise go to waste, to anybody who's hungry, while also protesting war and poverty.

i'm also a big fan of Goodwill. i decorated my new apartment almost completely using second hand stuff that i got from there!

hey what about a shout out to the animal charities in Detroit ;) i help run an animal charity in Mozambique (MAPS - we're on facebook!*) and its SO hard to compete with the 'human' charities - there's a need for both obviously, and I have the upmost respect for those doing good for their fellow man... but the stupid comments that come out of some people as to why animals shouldn't/don't need help particularly over 'saving babies' etc - kills me :( sorry needed a rant, been a bad day in that respect over here!

*shameless callout :)

Thank you so much for pointing out all the good in Detroit! We are a great city that has a lot of potential! Those are all great charities...I also like the Greening of Detroit!

Thank you for bringing attention to the great charities here in Detroit! There are so many worthy causes!

I agree with Claudia...the ignorant comments from people saying animals don't deserve help while there are ANY people suffering..I just don't get it. Why not help both??

Anyway, the Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society in Detroit is a great charity and worth mentioning too.

Thanks for highlighting positive things going on in Detroit. People tend to focus so much on the negative. I have volunteered at both Crossroads and The Children's Center. They are both wonderful organizations with amazing people who go above and beyond to help the neediest people in Detroit.
