Christmas is soon! Lets get super healthy!

Who wants to try and be really healthy before Christmas? I am trying to do a sugar-detox, and I know it will be especially hard. I am up for the challenge! Who's with me?

I am going to start logging on HERE what I eat every day. I really need to stop eating sugar. I may be addicted. College is stressful and leads to me eating tooooo muchsugar!!!

Breakfast: Miso soup, steal cut oats made with almond milk and flax seed. Part of a black bean brownie

Lunch: Vegetable soup, barley with corn. Black bean brownie.

Dinner: Vegetable soup, chick peas, oatmeal.

Snack later: Flax seed, swig of almond milk.

Breakfast: Black bean brownie. Steel cut oats with Nutritional Yeast. Snacked on a few almonds.

Snack: Oatmeal with chia seeds and walnuts

Lunch: Sandwhich consisting of whole wheat bread, hummus, tabouleh, green peppers and beans. Also had lots of broccoli with it! And a few strips of peppers.

Dinner: Two barley pancakes with an avocado and banana spread and flax seed. Then there was a salad with lentils. Nom Nom Nom.

hey just found this post, im so down! ive been eating like a crazy person the past wk or 2, just all the cookies and desserts i cant hold myself back! id def do this! tm i got a party all day so i aint guna post tm coz idk wat ima eat at all but nxt day def!

hi monica, hi kaity!

let´s do this! I find the time up to christmas even harder to not stray from my goals then the festive days themselves.. there are so many afterwork parties and birthdays in my family! way to many oppurtunities to overindulge..  but as far as I can see you stuck to the plan perfectly, monica! at least on the days you posted.. how do you feel now? what do you do against possible sugar cravings? tonight we´ll dine out, that´s bit tricky but sometimes it helps to have a "healthy" dessert waiting at home to skip the icecream at the restaurant..

good!yess same here and i just love to bake around the holidays so im trying a diff recipe always! today im having

breakfast-green smoothie, 1frozen banana 1c almondmilk green powder,a few strawberries n handful of spinach

lunch-finishin my pumpkin stash and havin another smoothie just subbin pumpkin for the berries and no spinach

dinn- large salad with roasted veggies hummus n refried beans

snacks-almonds and an apple

..i sorta just tryna detox nxt few days and get my sugar cravings gone with the fruit, im not even a sweets person just around the holidays i become one;)

with me the problem is that all the mums and grandmas in my family are exqusite cooks and their cakes.. well, this afternoon I fell off the wagon specularly with four slices of "gugelhupf" and immediately had to bear the consequences of all the unkind things- for hours, I felt so sick I thought I was going to throw up.. well, my body does seem to know what´s good for it but I´m really furious with myself because of my lack of control.. I know Alicias says it´s okay to take one´s time and to just move on making good choices but sometimes it just feels so hard making the same mistake again and again..  anyone out there who has similar issues?

i definatly have the same issue, and u get upset about it but im slowly learning to instead of falling of the wagon for the day or the week i fall off for the meal and pick up where i left off, it took me awhile tho! i did good today cept had a largee piece of a mint chocolate chip cake i made and ill just workout alil harder tomorrow, itll get better just what you gotta do atleast what i did was focus on the bigger picture not lookin to fit in your pants by the wknd or say christmas look at it as gettin healthy for life and that if u dont fit in ur pants that wknd u will one day uno, it stinks i no!

right, I would think keeping a healthy weight more as an extra benefit to protecting our planet and our mental sanity! anyway- that´s why I´m even more depressed once I´ve "failed" again". but what can we do, than try again? I´ve been doing good for the last two days now and hope my determination will keep me strong through the work christmas dinner tomorrow...

yeah i no wat u mean, its a love hate relationship with the holidays lol too mcuh good food! ull be fine! i think to myself if i go out to eat, if i eat all of this pasta and bread tonight i wont wanna have say pancakes tomorrow and makes me think of those pancakes and i usually end up bringin half of it home. but it doesnt always work either ! only sometimes lol

yeah, I use those tactics sometimes, too;-) I had that christmas work party yesterday and manged to stay with just on bun to go with the appetizers- yay!;-) apart from that it was 40(!)  euros spend on a handful of vegetables and some rice, but what can you do? to cater for vegans is not at all natural around here:-( but perhaps it was better for my calorie bank anyway that the potato gratin and vegtable lasagna weren´t vegan;-)how are you doing? and have you already worked out your christmas menu?

thats awesome! i no vegan food wich is cheaper anyway to make is more expensive to get at resturantes its crazy! and i no sometimes it works out better that theres dairy and meat in stuff you really want because you wont have it most of the time then and feel better having alternatives instead..my xmas is all planned my fams italian so they do the 7fishes on xmas eve n xmas turkey lasagna n ham, so xmas eve my gma makes eggplant parm cheeseless for me and its usually the first thing gone and xmas i make a vegan lasagna and all sides and its so much easier everyone loves my food but i never tell them i made it until they eat it otherwise there scared lol and desserts are so easy to veganize im the one who hasta bring all the desserts to every function bc everyone loves them so much and even thanksgivin i made a peanut butter pie and pumpkin that were made of tofu and they were gone first and everyone wanted the recipe, love that:)

is your christmas all planned?

Hi girls! I am in!!!! I get really bad headaches and my doctor recently muscle tested me for sugar and she thinks I am "weak" to it...whatever that means! ha. I started keeping a log too and goodness, I think I saw sourpatch kids on there more than any other food group!! I've been cutting out refined sugars for a few weeks now and it's been hard! A support group sounds great!!! I'm also trying to go vegan which has been SO hard, especially before the holidays. I am already dreading Christmas dinner, what am I going to eat!?--M
