constant nausea

hey there xD looking for advice from people of the medical profession or alicia if your reading!! my friend had been experiencing random as nausea for like 7 years now. sometimes after eating, or maybe when stressed , after he wakes up(especially after not much sleep) he doesnt have haemochromatosis, or cancer, and its not like a stomach bug and he is not pregnant... trying to figure out what could be the cause of this. maybe a diet trigger although i dont know what. any ideas would be helpful

love melody xx

Hi Melody.  I aknow you're asking Alicia or a doctor...and I am not but I too have been experiencing the same symptoms along with severe hunger like gnawing pain in my upper stomach area...nausea, sweating, anxiety too.  I am not having relief with anything yet including Tums as a last resort...I am going to the doctor this week for an H Pylori test (a bacteria) bc I read it can cause nausea and heartburn like symptoms unless it is treated.  Another possibility is a duodenal ulcer....has your friend looked into any of these causes?  I hope he finds out what it is...If I find out what's causing my symptoms I will post it for you!

Does your friend take any sleeping meds like Lunesta or Ambien? Or any other benzodiazepines like Xanax?
I had the same symptoms (constant nausea, cold sweats, no appetite, etc.)  I had all kinds of tests all of which came back 100% healthy - Full blood panel, urinalysis, MRI, hearing & balance, upper endoscopy, stomach biopsy (testing for H Pylori).

It turned out that I had been taking a prescription sleeping pill for too long, had built up a tolerance and was going thru a mini withdrawal every day.  None of my doctors would admit this - I had to figure it out for myself through research.

CAUTIION - never stop a sleeping bill or benzo "cold turkey" like I did.  It will lengthen your withdrawal time.  Find a good addiction specialist or some type of practitioner you trust who WANTS to help you get off of meds.

As you can see from the above, I'm new to veganism and taking proper care of my body - but learning fast :)

Hi, I'm Kevin on Melody's account.

@Tracy, I have not looked into any of those, but I will now. Thanks. how long have u had these symptoms for?

@Leesa, thanks but I have been on no medication before what the doctor gave me to try and help me (Omeprazole, used for controlling stomach acid), and that was only for 4 months. As far as I know, that medication changed nothing. So I'm definitely sure it's not medication.
does anyone think maybe it could be a food allergy such as lactose intolerance or a gluten allergy?
im also wondering if its sleep related. i have never had a very good sleeping pattern.

Hi Kevin...I have had these symptoms on and off for about 5 years or so...it comes and goes...I am seeing my doctor later today...however I found one thing that seems to help and that is Aloe Vera juice!  I read about it online and you can get it fairly cheap too...Lily of the Desert is the brand I am using.  Do you know your blood type?  I am O+ and have read that O's tend to be more prone to heartburn, reflux and over acidity...I am not sure how true that is...some say most of us don't produce enough acid and that nausea can be from lack of acidity and poor digestion of starches, fats and protein.  Some people find digestive enzymes helpful.  It is frustrating but maybe the Aloe Vera will help you if you research it and decide to try it.
Tracy
hey eveyone, melody again.
me and kevin are trying to find some of that aloe vera stuff. we saw some the other day but i wasn't sure cause the one we found at the asian store was full of corn syrup and fructose when we checked the label. which put me off. so will keep looking. i think h. pylori is a definite possibilty, altough im also curious to whether kevin has a gluten intolerance or something as i have heard that people can go for years and years and not know they have an allergy or food intolerance.
You can easily test to see if wheat/gluten is affecting you.  Simply stop eating anything that contains wheat flour and/or gluten.  You will have to do a little research, but it is well worth it to stop the pain!  i also experience terrible bloating and am exhausted for several days after exposure to wheat.

Melody - if you're still looking for Aloe Vera juice, they should carry several brands at Whole foods, if you're near one, or any natural foods store.

i also get this pain but i found that the kombucha (natural) tea (at like ukrops for about $3.69 a bottle) made it go away! i also felt the stuff digesting and now i will drink it each time this happens and hope it keeps doing the trick!

found some aloe vera juice... (at health food shop) and it looked good except it had sorbitol in it. thats an artifical sweetener right?
we cud probably try the cutting out gluten thing to see if it has any effect. will also try to find that tea. thanks guys for the advice.
:-)
Great advice about this !  I've had similar issues.  I read a post on here about an ingredient in Almond Breeze 'milk' that has a link to stomach cancer so we quit drinking that right away.  Also, coffee has caused this problem for me off & on for YEARS .. since switching drastically to vegan eating about 7 weeks ago my stomach seems to have become even more sensitive... if I even drink decaf organic coffee any time in the morniing I get a achy pain in the pit of my stomach.

Good luck !
oh & also assuming Kevin doesn't consume dairy & it isn't something as simple as lactose intollerance.
