cough

Hi All

I have this cough and it never seems to go away.  I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and this past summer took the step to vegan and thought w/o the dairy maybe my cough would go away, but no.  I had bronchitis in college every 3 months and then senior year I decided to get it anymore and I never got it again (10 years now) but I still get a pretty nasty cough a few times a year.  I have slight asthma and i have inhalers but I don’t really think they work.  Last spring i had a cough so bad I pulled a muscle around my rib and it hurt and was hard to breath for 3 weeks.

Anyways does anyone have any ideas on curing a cough?

Thank you

Hi Melissa,

Sorry to hear about your prolonged suffering. I think cutting out the dairy may still help with the cough, not to mention lots of other things, including your asthma. Your body may still be transitioning so don't give up hope. I have asthma too and know how annoying it can be. You say you don't think your inhalers work. Maybe you need a different type of inhaler? Or a different form of medication altogether, such as a tablet? Sometime inhalors themselves can cause itchy throats and coughing. Have you spoken with your doctor about the cough? In the meantime, I would suggest lots of soothing foods and drink such as soup and tea. I find ginger is always good for the throat. Plus you can put it in almost anything!

Hope this helps.
