Craving choclate BIG TIME

Hello everyone!  I am relatively new and somewhere in between flirting and vegan.  Today I am having a terrible time with sweet/chocolate cravings.  I'm also reading Hip Chicks Guide to Macrobiotics and it essentially indicates when you're craving something, you are out of balance.  How do I figure out what I'm lacking and make this craving go away??  I fear I could eat an entire gigantic bag of peanut M & M's...

I'd appreciate some feedback!!  Thanks all!

You can still have chocolate! Get some without any dairy in it. My favorite is malt barley sweetened chocolate chips by Sunspire. For me, a chocolate craving usually means I'm out of balance mentally or emotionally. Chocolate gives you feel-good endorphins. Have a little, but also try to figure out what is wrong so you can fix it. :)

Oh, girl, I eat chocolate all the time. Most good, dark chocolates are vegan. I love the Ghiradelli dark chocolate bars, and I'm also a huge fan of Ritter Sport dark chocolate-covered marzipan. Those are both available in most grocery stores. I like to pair both of them with whatever berries are in season.

If you like dark chocolate, most are vegan so you can totally eat some! And if you feel like eating a chocolate-peanut treat, look out the Chocoate Peanut Butter Cups and the Crispy Peanut Butter Treats with Chocolate Chips in The Kind Diet, they should do the trick ;).

I am craving chocolate too and the dark stuff is just not doing the trick.  I love european milk chocolate and it is the only non vegan thing that I cannot replace with a vegan alternative.  I have tried so many and nothing works :-(

I will keep trying alternatives til I find one and am going to try and cook my own truffles etc to see if anything comes close.  Until then i will just have to crave.

Kate, what you might try is blend some dark chocolate with soymilk. Just melt the chocolate and mix with soymilk. Than let it become more hard again. Maybe this satisfies you?

The best vegan chocolate are the dark chocolates from Endangered Species!  YUMM, you're making me crave it now!  They come in bar form or as individual pieces.  You can find them at Whole Foods.  Also, Whole Foods vegan chocolate chips are great (I like these better than Sunspire).

Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone.  I will have to pick up a couple of these and give them a whirl.  :)

Make the raw balls!  I made them yesterday, brought some to work to my non-veggie friends.  They loved them.  The carob powder gives them such a good chocolatey taste.

hi melissa!  you need to try Luna and Larry's Dark chocolate coconut frozen desert.  It is truly decadent.  It's organic whole food and the very best its vegan.  i found it at raley's.

Make this cake :) I made it and its very good, i swapped the blueberry to cherries :)

OK, so I knew there were vegan chocolates out there. However, I never knew that many of the dark chocolate I've been having as a treat for many years, actually IS vegan. Wow. This discussion taught me something new about my diet I never knew!

I have to agree with catconsrv,  Endangered Species' bars are heavenly! I was never a dark chocolate kind of gal, but decided to give it a try and I was hooked. My fav so far is the one with blueberries in it. Enjoy finding which dark chocolate you love!

Look around online and find out which products are vegan. We have Food Lion here, and I found out that their cookies, Oreo-type, Duplex, etc. are vegan. Hershey's chocolate syrup is vegan--just add to soy milk. And you can get vegan chocolate soy milk. Buy some vegan chocolate chips and make some cookies. And always remember that cocoa powder is vegan, so you can whip up some homemade hot chocolate. I've been looking at the chocolate bars available in drug stores, etc., and have found that even the dark chocolate ones do contain milk. But obviously it depends on where you live. Again, check online. There are places that sell all sorts of vegan chocolate treats.
