Does anyone have a basic, (vegan) whole wheat/grain bread?
I'm just looking for a basic, lightly sweetened, nice whole wheat or whole grain bread recipe!! I'm pretty open, but I was maybe looking for like a whole wheat sourdough. But if anyone has a good, healthy grainy bread that would be awesome!!
Hi Olivia- Whole Foods has a wonderful Grain Sprouted Seeded Wheat bread that I sometimes get. It's about $5 for a loaf...it's always very fresh and sometimes still warm! Yum! Oh wait I just read your post again you want a recipe....sorry I don't have one :(
THats ok! Thanks anyways, I'll keep that in mind when I'm feeling lazy!
Oliva,
I have attached a link to Thefreshloaf.com.  This website has a lot of good information for bread baking.  http://www.thefreshloaf.com/recipes/wholewheathoneybread
You can use agave nectar instead of honey, and rice, almond, or soy milk instead of regular milk.

Do you have a bread maker? I never thought I would want one, but my Mom gave me one and I use it at least once a week! I don't have my recipes here but I'll look them up.

Or, just google bread machine recipes and then make them and knead by hand.
" The Joy of Vegan Baking" has some bread recipes. I think the book is fabulous for a first timer like me. everything we have made from it is delicious!
I dont have a bread maker, in case anyone was wondering.
Hi Olivia:)  I found this simple recipe on vegcooking.com.. I haven't tried it, but seems easy! http://www.vegcooking.com/recipeshow.asp?RequestID=1900&Search=country+bread

howdy, Olivia!

i make a loaf of dave's killer whole wheat bread for my spouse every week for his sandwiches. the recipe calls for a mixer, but since we don't have one i make this bread by hand. i simply mix up the sponge for 5 minutes with a wooden spoon and then after that sits for an hour i add in the rest of the flour & knead it for 5 minutes (don't skimp out on the kneading time). ours cooks in 35 minutes & i spray the bread pan with a little olive oil cooking spray, too.

the recipe makes for 2 loaves of bread, so i just halve it each week. it's really tasty, and after the 3rd day of sitting out (we bundle it up in old plastic bread bags) i pop it in the fridge so it doesn't go stale as fast. if you slice the loaf up once it's cool & then freeze it's great, too!

p.s. - you can find wheat gluten in the baking section at your super market. :)

THanks so much! I'm new to this whole breadmaking thing, but I think treating myself to a slice every other day or so wont kill me!

I love Ezekiel breads, and Rudy's , so good !!!
Exekiel!!
