Duo with questionable sponsor

A question for all of you Kind Lifers out there:

Would you participate in an athletic event sponsored by a company that doesn't support your values?

I'm just getting back into running and found a duathalon I'd like to participate in. It's scheduled perfectly so I can be in shape in time, the course is on a beautiful river 20 minutes from my home, the distances are perfect for me, and the proceedes benefit the local high school cross country team. The race, however is sponsered by a local cattle company and they will also be providing the post-race meal. Even when I did eat meat, the thought of a burger after a race makes my stomach do backflips! Anyone have any thoughts on this? I thought it would make for an interesting discussion.

I don't see why you shouldn't sign up. None of your registration money is going to support this cattle company. The proceeds are going to a worthy cause. You won't be participating in the post-race meal. Participating in this event will not cause harm to another living creature, and choosing to sit out will not save one. That's usually my yardstick for measuring life events regarding my vegan standpoint.
