eco moving with greenbox!

That is fantastic!  My sister and her family recently moved and while she packed as much as she could into recycled boxes, it was shocking to see how much packing material the moving company used for the furniture.

Oh...she also used these really neat dish packing sets that she cought years ago.  They are cloth and cardboard with different compartments

It is great to know that there is a better option out there when it comes to moving companies!

Greenbox is an awesome concept! It's too bad they're only in California. If they were in New York they would make a killing. People are always moving between boroughs or neighborhoods.

Ugh! I'm moving this weekend - so bummed we don't have this in Chicago!

What an awesome idea! It would be fab if they expanded their business into Canada.

OMG this is fantastic - I am moving soon and wil definitely be looking into using this service! What a great idea - thanks so much for sharing!

This is a great idea! As a college student I move once a year, usually in and around the same neighborhood. I felt so guilty this last year having to throw away all the plastic/paper bags our house had saved up. So I used those as packing materials and I used our cloth grocery bags to stuff my things in. I used every storage bin I owned to stuff random items into. When I ran out of those I ran to a bulk grocery store, behind the store there are giant dumpster bins of cardboard boxes. So I had to do some dumpster diving but it was just cardboard, it was not terrible at all.

awww too bad they're not in Texas either!!

In New York City there's a company called Juggle Box that does the same thing. My living room is currently full of green boxes!

That's a very nice idea, if it was available here in Canada I would use them for any upcoming moving, a plastic box is much stronger than a paperboard box... I don't have much things to move however... The next best thing to do could be to find recycled paperboard boxes and recycle them when not needed anymore... I remember many many years ago I had to dispose of a pick-up back full of old computer circuits boards, I had them recycled because these things contain a lot of nocive metals and soldering...

I am very excited about this green packing box idea for moving...it sounds wonderful...the only thing is I use these cardboard boxes to store my possessions in...where I live, I have almost zero storage capacity...I live in a compact apartment and must stack my boxes to conserve space...but what I am working on is making my own cloth bags now that I have a sewing machine...I am always thinking of ways to save the environment and reduce waste...smiley-smile.gif

Hello Kind Lifers!

My name is Brian and I am the director of business development for Rent-A-Green Box.  First, what a great site and community The Kind Life is!  The entire Rent-A-Green Box team feels so honored to be mentioned and discussed on this wonderful site, so thank you to all!

Secondly, after reading all of the comments, I just wanted to take a moment to let people know where we stand as a company.  Due to the unique concept, product line and service, we have received an overwhelming number of inquiries about expanding our locations.  Because of this, we have developed a franchise model and have been approved to launch nationwide!!  In the next few months, look for Rent-A-Green Box locations to pop up across the country and we would be thrilled to help you and the environment with your upcoming move.

Also, if you would like to see a Rent-A-Green Box in your area, maybe operating a franchise would be a great fit for you!!  Check us out online at www.rentagreenbox.com for more information.

So again, thank you all so much for the kind words and to Alicia and her team as well as Michelle for mentioning us.  We appreciate all of you and look forward to greening America and the planet together!!

This is such an awesome idea!! And I used to live on the same street as the woman shown in the video in Huntington Beach :) Can't wait until franchises start popping up all over the US!

We did this. We rented crates instead of cardboard boxes and then they collect in their 'green' vehicle and off you go. Amazing.

SO many people waste paper and cardboard and think because it can be recycled, it doesn't matter if you waste it. We reuse everything!!! :)
