eco stores in LA & NYC
There is a lot of cool stuff on Etsy.com
I make OOAK Waldorf dolls out of all natural materials...everything is earth, animal, and child safe and friendly.

Here's another few great shops on the Lower East Side in NYC: For a fashion fix (think Linda Loudermilk & Loomstate), head to Kaight. For synthetic and non-leather footwear & accessories, there's Mooshoes. I visit them whenever I get to the city.

I own a boutique & skin spa called Home Body in Olympia, WA that features sustainable products including Tsi-La Organics Perfume, Sircuit Skin Cosmeceuticals skin care, Vosges chocolate and Project Alabama clothing. You can check out my website at http://www.HomeBodyOlympia.com. I blog about green living!
I have been using products made with tea tree oil and other natural ingredients for 18 years. This 25 year old company has been Green for 25 years. I can work out of my home and I was able to replace my corporate income as a trainer with 3M Company my first year when I joined them in 1992. They have natural laundry care and non toxic cleaning products. They are reasonably priced and you can shop online and it is delivered to your door in 3 days. Great for busy Moms.
I also take their natural vitamins which are 85% absorption. Most vitamins go in one end and out the other. Since I went Vegan in November, I am glad I am on these. I don't always have time to
cook the yummy, yet time consuming recipes in Alicia's book.
I have a friend who loves to cook, so she helps me.
If you are interested, look at www.tucsonwellness.healthyhometour.com. You'd be amazed at how toxic the products are in all parts of your house for you, your kids and your pets. You can also call me at 1-866-844-9777.
Here's to going Green!

My friend has a furniture company that creates amazing modern pieces from scratch, some are one of a kind - he uses only reclaimed wood.  It's called Custom Lime and his furniture is AMAZING.  Check out the pictures at  www.custom lime.com
The Green Wagon in Nashville, tn has been around for a little over a year. They have two locations, East Nashville and Sylvan Park, both very progressive neighborhoods. http://thegreenwagon.com .
There's a play in Orlando, Platos Closet, that buys gently used clothes off you and resells them
And don't forget about Green With Glamour for eco-chic fashion, furnishings and gifts (www.greenwithglamour.com)... launched 3 years ago and just last year named to Time Magazine Green Design 100!

Zola Goods, a Green America company, provides people with an opportunity to share an empowering message and initiate change in homes across the United States, while also offering the chance to earn a supplemental income.

Embracing a grassroots approach, Zola Coordinators hold eco home parties and workshops in their communities. Zola is not multi-level sales, it is a way to educate people about the green movement in a fun, non-political forum. You can also shop on-line at http://www.zolagoods.com

Pardon the personal plug for my employer... Jute & Jackfruit! Shop eco-friendly ensembles, handbags, recycled/upcycled jewelry and more! http://juteandjackfruit.com/
Great list so far!
My husband and I own an eco gift company called This Is It! Creations. We make journals and notepads using tree free and recycled paper. We also make jewelry using recycled silver. Here's our Etsy shop: http://www.thisisit.etsy.com

All of these places sound great! but.. unfortunitely for me I am from a small province in Canada and although I am a new vegetarian and I am trying to be an ethical consumer, I find it difficult sometimes as the small city (compared to NYC and LA) that I live in doesn't have a whole lot to offer to the Veg peoples :S
Personalized poetry is a green gift cuz it does not make more STUFF! Our creation and consumption of stuff is just bizarre - bad for our planet, our economy (since it is all made overseas), and sometimes even bad for our bodies! (lead in the toys ring a bell?)
On that note, I have to plug my company - thespeedypoet.com.
I've heard about a store called The Ultimate Green Store (www.theultimategreenstore.com). I haven't had any personal experience with the place, but it looks cool.
I found out about it on The Apartment's Re-Nest (http://www.re-nest.com/re-nest/at-marketplace/the-ultimate-green-store-store-profile-108397) - I just love the posts on that website!
The Good Home Company sells their green cleaning products in stores throughout the U.S. and online, but they're opening a store in New York City soon.  Their Italian Citrus products are the best.
