Feeling bloated?

Hello everyone!

I just started my vegan diet several days ago. I cut out all sugar, processed foods, meat, dairy, coffee/sodas... My current diet consists of whole grains, beans, vegetables, fruit, and some nuts.

For some reason though, I've been feeling bloated.
Why? Is that normal and does it go away?

It can be normal due to the increase in fibre and volume of fibrous foods.

Usually just a temporary issue when changing to a higher fibre diet unless you have digestive problems.

That makes a lot of sense. I did some research on it too and people said it's normal because of the increase in fiber.

Thank you so much! I'll definitely stick with this! :)

I am in the same situation. Ever since switching to a vegan diet (about 5 months ago) I've been incredibly bloated. Sometimes I feel awfully fat. But, in the morning all my bloatedness goes away. I am at my worst at the end of the day. I am so glad to hear that this is "normal".

Traditional Medicinals makes a tea, called DIgestive Ease (or something), it is amazing for bloat!

Try including more soups in your diet (maybe especially for dinner?). It's easier to digest and should help ease your discomfort.

what grains are you eating?  Bloating that isn't from sodium could be a gluten intolerance or just plain ol' gas from beans perhaps? Do you get a tummy ache with it?  If it doesn't stop in time you may try sticking to brown rice, quinoa and other grains that are wheat free to see if that helps.
