I have had Fibromyalgia for over 20yrs (since I was in my teens). I have been on every drug you can think of at one point or another. Antidepressants, pain meds, muscle relaxants etc. At one point I was pretty much immobile. Then I decided to change my diet and take control of my health. I am not vegan and still eat meat (chicken) and fish on occasion, however, the majority of my diet is grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes and some tofu (I have to avoid soy). Since changing my diet my Fibro has improved greatly. Other things have helped, such as visiting a naturopathic doctor, acupunture, massage therapy and the chiropractor. The frustrating part of Fibro is trying to find what combination of things works best for you since it effects everyon differently. I no longer take any meds for the fibro, however, my GP recently gave me samples for Lyrica to try. I didn't want them as I have other health issues (hypothyroid and sarcoidosis) that I know are the source of my current problems she disagreed, refused to adjust my those meds and gave me the Lyrica. I agree with Sandy don't take this. I pretty much lost 2 weeks of my life, and I was on a very low dose.
Thanks a lot. It is nice to have a time frame to work with. I did start to feel better right when I started being vegan, but I think that I have let too many processed foods creep in as comfot food.
