Finally making the change!
Hi everyone!! I have been a meat, junk food eater all of my life. Have often thought of changing my ways, but never stuck to it. I am overweight and had my gall bladder removed last July. That resulted in Pancreatitis, which sucked! But, that experience really helped me learn to filter what I eat. I just got The Kind Diet and am going full Vegan! I am excited about the change and can't wait to see how it transforms my body from the inside out! :)
Since the gall bladder surgery, the only milk I can have that doesn't make me sick is non-fat. I am so hesitant about trying new drinks or foods as my digestive system is so picky now. Do you think Almond milk is the best way to go? I need low fat. Thanks everyone and thanks, Alicia, for jump starting my will to be healthy. :)
Deanie it sounds like you have been through quite a journey healthwise. I'm new to this so I can't offer any advice but I just want to wish you the best. I hope this works out for you. If you try the Almond Milk, please let me know how it is. I tried Soy milk for the first time today and it was different so I was thinking of trying the Almond next time. Let me know!
Deanie - Good for you for taking the first step!  I too have been "flirting" w/ the idea since reading The Kind Diet.  I'm only 1/4 way through and find it very interesting.  I haven't a clue as to what I'm doing and hopefully we can learn together.  :)

With regard to Almond milk, I just tasted it for the first time last night.  It's not bad at all!  Mild tasting.  I only had a drink of my husband's but I think I can live w/ Almond milk instead of dairy milk for sure.

Hopefully Almond milk is gentle to your system.  Since it's not diary, I would think it would be, but until you try, you won't know for sure.  Good luck and let us know how it goes!
I am LOVING this new way of eating! It is so much easier for my body to digest. I have slipped a few times, but I am not beating myself up over it. Overall, the food had been delicious. The peanut butter cups are AWESOME!!!
Last night, we went to Red Lobster for dinner. They have no vegan options, other than salad. I ate fish and totally felt guilty. I couldn't finish it. Also, we saw the live lobster in the tanks and it made me so sad!
