When I first bought a package of ground flax seeds, I didn't really know what to do with them besides using as an egg replacer. The package usually resigned itself to a far corner in my freezer. Recently, I've been wanting to use them more (for Omega-3), to use about 1 tablespoon per day. Now I'm thinking of more and more things to use it in. What do you eat with flax seeds?
What I've used them/what I've sprinkled them on:Pancakes (as egg replacer)Smoothies (for texture)Over Alicia's cheesecake recipe (yum!)Saladsoatmeal
Ideas:Anything that uses a nut butter: banana and peanut butter, celery and peanut butter, etc.
Oh, wanted to add that I also sprinkled some over the steamed bok choy with the balsamic vinegar in TKD as well, which was also really good!
I always sprinkle a tbs. of ground flaxseed over my peanut butter banana oatmeal.
Make sure you grind them, otherwise they just pass right through without giving all the wonderful health benefits.
Grind them in a coffee grinder and make a delicious flax lattee with some light steamed soy milk...yummm...having mine right now!
I put it in pasta dishes, oatmeal, granola, shakes etc...it can go in basically anything!
I usually add it to pancakes, muffins, cookies, smoothies anything really. I add so my husband doesnt know he is eating it!
I like to add a little to just about everything I make. I really like it in couscous. In fact, I made Alicia's recipe for Moroccan Couscous (omitting the saffron--too expensive here) and added a few tsp. of ground flax. It was delicious!!!
