forks over knives

This movie will hopefully spark an awakening in those people who can change the direction of their health by simply changing their food.

I just love how perfectly, wonderfully simple the solution to our health is: healthy food.

I LOVE this movie!! I had the pleasure of seeing a pre-screening in Berkeley, CA, sponsored by a local, vegan, restaurant called Nature's Express (www.natures-express.com). There was a panel afterwards with Dr. Doug Lisle (who is interviewed in the movie, Colleen Patrick-Goudreau (author of The Vegan Table & Vegan Baking) and Dr. Carl Myers (owner of Nature's Express.

My friends & I who went are all vegan, but we still learned SO much for their research. One of my dude friends totally cried when they were interviewing cancer patients who have recovered b/c of changing their diets. I can't wait to share this movie with my carnivore friends and those who are veg, but still eat dairy.

I've started cooking with less oil since seeing this--I didn't realize how reliant I'd become on it! Water sauteing rocks!  Really really amazing movie. Thanks for posting this, Alicia! =)

They're playing it at my college's student life cinema tonight!

I can't wait to see this!  I was reading in a macrobiotics book just this morning and he was talking about after World War I that a person (forgive me for not having better details, I don't have the book in front of me!) was called in to help with the country's food shortage.  He immediately called for slaughter of a large portion of pigs (sad!) and cattle (also sad!) and used the grain for people.  He also put a stop to alcohol consumption to use that grain as well.  What is the point?  Well the population during this time had a dramatic health change for the better!  Cancer and illness rates dramatically dropped!!  More sad stuff?  When the crisis was over, they went back to the previous eat and dairy habits and regained all the health issues as well.  You would think they would have learned something.

I have been vegetarian for 20 years (last August) and vegan off and on for years at a time.  Now on again (since June) and will remain so this time.  I have had 1 cold in 20 something years.  I love knowing my choices are not hurting another being.

Best wishes!

I forgot to say the country was referred to as "Dane" so Finland? Danish? Sorry, I don't know!

I plan on going to the LA screening... I'm really excited and I'm hopefully bringing some friends who don't participate in this lifestyle. And while I don't think this will turn any of them veg, I'm hoping it will at least make them think a little more about their food choices.

Hi Kym, in response to your question about Danes -- these would refer to people from Denmark.

I got to see this in Berkeley last week.  It is great to see someone finally putting this information on the big screen!  They told us at the screening that Portland will be the test market when the film releases nationally in March...so tell all your friends in Portland to GO SEE THIS then, it will determine how widely the film gets released!   I recommend attending a screening in your area if you are lucky enough to have one nearby!

Can't wait to see this!  The China Study was truly life changing to read, it was really wise of them to put the info into a film and reach a wider group of people.

I loved the movie!!  It's a great recap of the China Study, plus it's fun to follow the people as they get healthy.  I can't wait to give this DVD to people who worry about my diet!

This is why I'm going to complete my Counselling degree and go on to Nutrition so I can help people understand all of this.  I'm actually doing my dissertation on the social and personal impacts of being vegan in a nonvegan world.

Thats Awesome! we need like buttons!

Thank you so much for posting this Alicia!  It turns out that it's being screened near me this Saturday.  I never would have known if I hadn't seen your post.  Now I'm planning to attend and taking along a skeptical chef friend!
