Happy Valentine's Day
Thanks for this Alicia! I have been following you for a while and am slowly starting my Vegan transformation. I live in a small town in Ohio so finding a veg restaurant is non existent, i'm kinda going this on my own. However, I will be in New York/Connecticut next week for my first visit (I'm an egg donor and will be there for retrieval and the implantation of the Mom) Anway.. I've been doing some research (from you of course) about some good restaurants and markets, I've got a lot of research to do, but I just wanted to thank you for all your helpful info and inspiration!
These gifts are great suggestions. But better than organic flowers--organic plants! Request plants rather than flowers. Flowers die in vain but plants grow and can be nurtured ;)
GOOD ADVICE! KUDOS...........:-)
I am giving my hubby organic dark chocolate and a certificate for cuddling on the couch watching the movie of his choice, then a bubble bath followed by a hot oil massage.  Doesn't cost very much at all and I know he will love it!
PLANTS are always better than flowers...and keep on giving--if properly nurtured...not unlike ALL relationship!  *~*
yeah I tell Hubby all the time , don't get me flowers they die!
I'm thinking an orchid would be nice.
I LOVE the photo of the Valentine's cards!  It looks like the owl was made with a potato stamp!  :)  Good luck on your trip, Courteney and if you need any CT food stop advice, let me know!  There's a wonderful raw cafe in Fairfield called Catch a Healthy Habit.
Oh...I like the plant giving idea!
Courteney,
I love in Ohio too!
I am originally from a small town, but I now reside in Columbus.
Get in touch if you are ever in Columbus or if you just want to come to Columbus for fun. I could show you all the cool vegan restaurants around town! :)
I did something a little different. I ordered a personalized romance novel with my husband and I as the hero and heroine. I always read romance and a few times my husband joked about competing with the romantic leads, now he doesn't have too. The website is www.bookbyyou.com. There are many titles (mine was a vampire romance). Teens and kids books too.  Today is the last day to order for Valentines delivery but I chose not to (extra cost), but you can print off a gift card and a sample exerpt from your novel. Being married for 30 years I had no idea what to get him, so this and a small organic chocolate heart will be my valentine to my sweetie.
OH, Freebird. Booksbyyou.com is sort of amazing! Like madlibs but better. Love it!
Hi- I'm a florist and this is "go time" for the industry.  I have to admit that I was SHOCKED today when I saw that the roses ordered by the owner were grown by a company that is  1. Fair Trade and 2. Partnered with Unicef.  That is something that I haven't ever  seen before (sadly)  The owvner of the store never orders organic flowers.  The result is this: When I go to work for her on these holidays- My hands BURN!  Like fire!  The pesticides are clearly visible on the foliage of the roses.  It is powdery and irritating to the skin.  I wash my hands almost constantly to help eliminate my exposure.  It is sooo sad that as an artist in this field, there are few options with this- unless your employer goes green.  (maybe we'll get there eventually?)  Thanks for bringing this to light- consumers should know-    ps. luckily I no longer do this full time anymore- since having my littles, so it's only an issue at these times of the year!  :)

I decided to make the Chocolate-Dipped Shortbread Cookies in The Kind Diet book. They were fabulous! See a picture of them on my blog: http://tamiespears.vox.com
I LOVE this website! Thank you Alicia! For my hubby's Valentine's gift, I just finished baking him a batch of vegan brownies. He is a huge chocolate lover but the recipe I have is fatfree and delicious. I won't even tell him until after....hahah
My birthday is coming up March 3rd so I hope someone gets me the Kind Diet Cookbook. It sounds great!
