harvest and a guest!

Great photos!!  I can't wait for the day that I have land to plant my own garden!

This is so adorably cute. Thanks for sharing with us. You'll be home soon. Be thankful that you have a wonderful soul mate to take care of all of this love for you while you're away :)

Wow your garden is really producing some beautiful veggies. thanks for sharing.smiley-smile.gif

Beautiful!  I actually had some desert swallowtail butterfly caterpillars make a home on my dill plant.  They only eat certain plants so I let them eat the whole thing.  I had about 20 of them in the beginning.  I managed to find 2 of them later cocooned on my lemon balm and summer savory.  It was a great feeling to know my garden also gave life to wonderful butterfiles!

What would I do without kale?!  I want to start growing my own :)

i planted my first garden this year and it did well and mostly produced squash and cukes.  The watermelons were beautiful but not sweet. I am planning my fall garden now.  I love gardening.  Great garden, Alicia!

I hope to garden next year provided we do not move yet again.  I really want to at least plant some sunflowers at the very least and get my daughter involved in gardening.  Caterpillars are awesome we have some on our ivy vine out front and I love being able to point them out to our daughter.  She is such a nature lover.  Thanks for sharing.

That must be the happiest caterpillar ever!!!  Like many other kind lifers, I can't wait to have land to plant a veggie garden.  Harvest is so magical to me. :)

A beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing!

Hey All,

If you don't have land for a garden, you may have room for some container gardens. Here's a few web sites that could help with this:

http://www.gardenguides.com/685-guide-container-gardening.html

http://containergardening.about.com/od/vegetablesandherbs/a/VegetableContainer101.htm

http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/publications/guides/E-545_vegetable_gardening_containers.pdf

http://www.bhg.com/gardening/container/

There's really a great deal that you can do with container gardens, and, it's been said that there's less weeding and less chance of pesticides because you're growing in a specific medium, rather than your back yard which has been sprayed every year to keep the weeds away.

I bought a book about planting plants and veggies in one container and I'm going to try it next year. I had a garden in my back yard last year and it didn't do well so I'm switching to containers next year.

I especially like the lettuce garden in the resuable Whole Foods shopping bag! LOL! Now, that's really recycling!

Good luck everyone!

Very amazing and very impressive. I love kale, never thought about growing it though. Bet it tastes lovely fresh! I do love fresh herbs from our garden. It is very sweet of you not to mind sharing with Mr Caterpillar. I often notice holes in some of the herbs, it's cute!

AS ME AND MY SAY, WHATS THAT FELLER DOING THERE. HES A LITTLE GUY
