hello from Iowa!

Hi,

I started a 30-day vegan challenge two weeks ago. I have been toying with the idea for years, and tried vegetarianism (with eggs and dairy) for a year, and gave it up because I didn't notice any improvements in my health. In the past two weeks, my skin problems have practically dissappeared and I'm feeling amazing! I've lost a few pounds, but I look like I've lost more because my belly bloat is gone. I wish I had done this earlier!

Now I'm super-excited to be on this vegan adventure. I'm lucky to live in a university town that has a great co-op, but traveling and dining outside of the central Iowa area can be a challenge. The rural midwest is not a hugely supportive place for alternative diets, but I'm learning to deal!

I'd love to hear from others who live in similar areas and how you manage, and from those with small children! I have a four-year-old who doesn't like to eat much, and has turned her nose at any meat alternative and grain (she will eat fruits and veggies plain and bread. That's pretty much it unless she's forced). That is all for now.

Love,

Alisha
