First, buy healthier carbs online. Switch out your pasta for quinoa. It will cost more but will be cheaper than veggies. You can get everything you need from frozen vegetables (I assume you are not eating raw) so buy frozen whenever you can. Pea, brussel sprouts, corn...if you don't like the way the taste, make them into soups you can eat all week. Garlic, onion, olive oil and frozen veggies with vegetable stock makes a great lunch. If you can buy bananas, and do one banana sliced in a bowel with a nut butter you can afford, so peanut, or almond. Sprinkle cinnamon and microwave for 1 minute. Mix and eat..it replaces oatmeal and is warm (which you need this time of year). If you can get your hands on things like unsweetened coconut that is great in the banana bowl. For lunches and dinners other than soups which should be super affordable try spanish and mexican flavored meals. Beans are better than pastas. You should be able to buy them dry and canned this time of year. Black beans and lentils are staples. Lentils can be used for more soups or burritos, etc. Sweet potatoes topped with black beans and any veggies you can find, like peppers, onions, carrots is a great warm meal. Amy's chilies have extra protein with some tofu and you can buy those online and lastly if you can get your hands on squash you can do a lot. Soups, spaghetti squash (can be made in microwave...) Hang in there!!
