I purchased The Kind Diet a while back & read it after I saw an interview w/ Alicia on TV. At that time I didn't have much success with it as I came up w/excuses why I couldn't fully commit to it. BUT, it did start me thinking. Since then, I have gotten involved w/Nutrition Respose Testing through my doctor which started me on the road to being healthy. It was rough at first since my body couldn't handle many foods. After a year or so I went on my first purification program which was highly restrictive~no grains, nuts, seeds, etc. I ate mostly fruits & veggies for 3 weeks! (I was allowed lean protein after 10 days but I think I only had it 2-3 times durin the whole 3 weeks!) After I finished the program I felt amazing. When I went to the doctor for my post-purification program he was amazed~he could find nothing wrong w/me! I didn't want to succumb to all the toxic stuff I'd been w/o for the last 3 weeks so I picked up Alicia's book again and started reading it. That was on Monday of this week. As I read it I found that I wouldn't have much trouble this time following it as there was more selection on this than on my purification. So, now I'm actually looking forward to this journey! Interestingly though, I did have a piece of toast w/peanut butter one day and I noticed that I was quite cranky for a few hours afterwards. When I checked the ingredients I found that it contained evaporated cane juice! Since I have had no sweetners of any kind in over 3 weeks (except fruit) my body was not happy w/this. Lesson learned! By the way, did I mention that I am gluten sensitive & have not had any gluten in over 5 years?
