How do you deal with setbacks

Hi, just wondering how you deal with setbacks. I have feeling so good on Alicia's superhero diet that cycling everyday had become a big part of my fitness/wellness regime. Then on Wednesday I got hit by a car, nothing serious, but I didn't bounce too well and feel really bruised and battered. This has really knocked me off center and fear that I don't have the same energy I had before to cook & stay on the diet. Have been doing ok so far. But would love some suggestions on how to recover, especially easy recipes.

Hello Lindsey,

I am so sorry to hear what happened to you. I have never been hit by a car but there have been a few close calls which is scary. I think after the initial trauma starts to wear off I think you will be more equipped with a better mindset of the potential danger on the roadway (not saying you weren't before I just mean you will probably have a different view because of your experience). I hope you are getting the support you need to recover and also to get back out there!

I know one thing that is simple that I make almost every day, smoothies! I mix soy milk, yogurt, frozen bananas (so much better this way), strawberries, spinach and a couple ice cubes. You can really tailor it to fit your fruit preference. I am still learning recipes myself but I recently made vegan fajitas which was an easy recipe.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi Lindsay,

Hope you feel better soon.  I'm sure that even if you weren't injured badly it was still frightening.  As for cooking, if you are feeling that you're not in the mindset, let go of the tricky recipes and eat simply for a while.  Toss some brown rice, tomatoes and chick peas in a bowl with a drizzle of flax oil and lemon.  So yummy, simple and satisfying.  Sometimes we get too caught up in the recipes.  Just go back to basics.  Pick your grain, some beans, and toss some veggies on top.  It doesn't have to be difficult.

Take care of you, and feel better soon.

Thanks Lindsay & Kim, smoothies sound perfect, and Kim your recipe sounds so good. You're right about simple foods and letting go of trying to hard. Feeling stronger everyday and ready to get back out there with the addition of a reflective vest! :)
