kristin’s gradual transformation

Thank you Alicia.  I have since lost a total of 35 pounds and have never been happier!  The weight continues to drop but I honestly do not even think about losing the weight.  (except when I get dressed and find that my clothes are all too big!)  Thank you again.  You have truly been an inspiration!  Kristin

I find this very encouraging.  When I have tried it, I find that I gain weight.  I must be consuming too many starchy carbs....potatoes, rice, etc.  I want to do this.  I want it to have this affect on me.  I can't seem to stay focused enough.  I would love to hear of more successes like this.  What am I doing wrong?

Kirstin, That is wonderful!!  This way of living just plan makes you happy.  It makes such a difference in all ares of your life.  Alicia and you both are an inspirsation to me.

Carol, What is your daily menu like? Maybe we can help you out by looking at what your eatting?  I have lost 35 pounds now since April and a ton of inches. I asked some ladies to share their menus with me and it helps to know what works for others. Plus gives you new ideas.

Great job ladies!:) You are an inspiration. I have been vegetarian for 19 years, since I was 12, and was vegan a few times  of times in that span. I was eating relatively healthily, but I was always a carb and cheese fanatic though.... mmmmm pizza! And ever since I was pregnant and had my son, sugar seemed to always be calling my name. ....haha.... But a week ago, I decided to do a cleanse, because my body has not been the same since I became a momma. The cleanse was basically a vegan diet, emphasizing whole grains, veggies, clean protein etc.... At the same time, I finally picked up "The Kind Diet", which has been awesome and has shown me a whole new way of vegan eating, and I have lost 7lbs thus far! :) I'm looking forward to feeling even better and dropping a few (20-30) more pounds! :) Anyways! Sorry for ranting on. Your progress is wonderful, and I look forward to future updates!:)

Kristin is amazing!

I am still a flirt, but this does inspire me to keep going!

Very inspiring! Has renewed my resolve for a vegan lifestyle with slow and steady weight loss. Thanks for posting this Alicia.

good job! i've love 25 pounds now, been vegan for almost 4 months! good luck and i hope you get the results you want and all the other benefits of begin vegan. :)

@Carol Bass I have this very same question.  I'm doing yoga as my exercise nearly every day (I typically use weekends as my "off" days) and I'm making recipes from The Kind Diet and that awesome corn chowder.  I don't weigh myself anymore because it's just asking for trouble (my ED is in remission), but I don't feel that I've lost anything.  I'm so confused.  I'm committed to veganism no matter what, but I am envious of those who are losing because it doesn't seem to have any weight loss effects for me.

That is so great! It always makes me smile to see other people with the happiness and glow that comes with a vegan lifestyle :) It's truly the best choice you will ever make for your body, the planet, and animals! Congrats, girl :)

How cool!  I am more and more excited about a vegan lifestyle - I have been researching it for months, but only decided to take the vegan plunge a week ago.   Since then, I have lost 3.5 pounds, feel a million times lighter (after a few days of slightly uncomfortable detox) and have slept without a sleep aid for the last two nights - first time in 2 years!!!  Reading stories like Kristin's are so inspirational - so glad this site is here!

@Carol, I'm in very much the same boat. I run about 10k 3 to 4 times per week and walk virtually everywhere I go because I live in downtown Amsterdam so exercise is not really an issue. I am strict vegan and semi-superhero and although I eat the way I do for reasons completely separate from weight loss, I would not mind shedding about 10 kilo/20 pound. I just can't seem to get there. Is it because I'm not more superhero? I often add soba noodles to miso soup, I eat whole wheat vegan cookies if I crave a sweet, and eat popcorn about 3x per week. Is this all standing in my way? Hmmmm. I love hearing success stories like Kristin, it always makes me smile when people feel powerful. I love it! I want to smile at me the same way ;-) Good luck to Carol and me and all.

I recently bought The Kind Diet and have altered my food choices. Just started menopause a year ago and cannot lose weight. I hit the health food store over the weekend and loved my barley salad and broccoli salad for lunch.

I hope that the increased legumes and GREATLY reduced poultry helps with my weight in addition to helping my health.

Am trying to give up dairy and it's tough. I bought the butter substitute recommended by Alicia and am having trouble with the taste. I'm going to keep on it though ... and will certainly eat alot less dairy.

I think this book will change my life. Thank you Alicia.

Kristin Thayer, congrats to you!!:~D   You should be so proud of yourself!!  Being vegan is the right way to go for your health, the innocent animals, and the environment!!:~))

Way to go Kristin!!!;~))
