Lactose intolerance or allergy?

I know there is a difference between a food intolerance and food allergy. I had tests done back when I was seeing a GI doctor for stomach issues. But they didn't confirm anything solid and I am back in the same boat. I'm considering cutting out dairy as much as I can from what I currently eat daily. But I'm not sure if this will help ~ anyone else have similar issues?

I was allergic to milk, specifically whey products, as a child. I would get horrible headaches. As an adult it affects my stomach too. Cutting out dairy is one of the first things to try with chronic stomach ailments, as it's extremly common to be allergic/intolerent. Try almond milk!

Well I had been drinking Soymilk for ages but decided too much soy is probably not good for me. So I did recently switch to almond which is quite tasty. Yet I find I still crave cheese! Pizza - good heavens, 2 slices of that and I'm in trouble the next day. Any tasty cheese alternatives out there? I'm still surprised by how much something like milk can wreck total havoc on my system.
