Nicole - I have lost 40 pounds in 6 months. It can be done. I don't know where you're at, flirting, vegan, etc, but flirting will take you longer, veganism will speed things up, and superhero will really get you there. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions, or post to my board. I just tried on pants yesterday that I have not been able to wear in years (don't know why I still had them!), and I have donated loads of clothes that are too big for me to a local animal shelter thrift store. It's a really good feeling, and you can get there!

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid disease a few months ago.  Within the past three years, I gained 70 pounds while working out 6 days a week and living on a 1000 calorie diet.  Through going vegan in February, I lost ten pounds, which was the first time in years I've been able to lose weight, but then it stopped after that.  Since my diagnosis, I have been placed on a medication that helps my thyroid to boost my metabolism, so I'm pretty much in the same boat, with needing to lose 60 pounds still, which is hard when you're literally working against your body.  Do you have a gameplan (meal/exercise plan) yet?

Thanks so much both of you!!  First of all I am trying to be a superhero. I have been a vegan since April and lost 30 pounds. I haven't lost any in the last 2 weeks and I am very upset. The scale wont move. So Friday I started to be the superhero. I feel lighter already but I kindof feel alittle overwhelmed. I worry about everything I eat. I know its silly. What do you guys eat? I know this sounds crazy but I thinkk breakfast mkes me fat. I swear it does.

I became vegan in December. Within 3-4 months I lost 30 pounds. I've been maintaining there for the past 4 months but still have about 20-25 to lose. I'm not strictly superhero but am considering going that way. I also am planning to decrease my portion sizes (as I still eat far too much) and increasing my exercising. The first 30 was easy - I really wasn't trying, but now I've actually got to put some effort into it!

Also, breakfast in general won't make you fat. It actually sets your metabolic rate for the rest of the day, so it's a very good idea to eat breakfast. Just watch what you eat. If you're piling on the calories or eating sweet things, it can make you crave bad things throughout the rest of the day. I don't foresee that you would be doing either on the superhero track, but keep that in mind.

Thanks Kirstan.  I am very careful about sweet stuff and rea;;y watch my sugar in take and more so now that I am superhero. I know what everyone says abot breakfast but my body seems react to it differently. I know this can't be in my head because its happenend before. I just find it wierd that when I try to  do what people say I can never get wieght off. So tahts why  was wondering what others daily menu was like.

I have lost 25 lb. in 2 months, but the scale has slowed down quite a bit the past month. I also have 105 lb left to lose, so girl, I KNOW what a lot left to lose is like! :P Wanna be weight loss buddies? I was just wondering if anyone else that is trying to lose weight has a blog too? Mine is http://peasloveandhappiness.blogspot.com/

peasandlove, I would love to be weight lose buddies. No, I don't have a blog but I,ll certainly go to yours. Thanks. It is so hard to  be on ajourney like this alone.

I think we should turn this discussion into some sort of check-in area...so to speak.  Like, we all come back to it at least once a day to check in with what we ate, whether or not we exercised, etc.  That way we can motivate eachother, and I'll be honest...not being able to report back with positive stuff (I ate well AND exercised!) would make me feel so guilty and really push me to stay on track.  Yes?  No?  Thoughts?

I'm so glad that I happened along your post, Nicole. You've gotten great advice and I'm now inspired. I have just over 100 lbs to lose and while I'm thankful I carry my weight well, I want it gone! I've been vegetarian for five months now and while I don't eat a lot of dairy, I've been struggling to kick it completely. I very much want to make the transition and so I keep on trying. I'm inspired by what has happened for some people by becoming vegan. Thanks, again, and all the best with your journey!

I know I said good things about this book already a lot of times, but if you want to go superhero (=macrobiotic) please chack out this book: Modern Day Macrobiotics by Simon Brown.

http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Day-Macrobiotics-Transform-Your-Spirit/dp/1556436432/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

The book is practical, informative, down to earth, hands-on. Its very understandable and has mealplans and special suggestions for detox and regeneration and weight loss!

Love and light, axa

I think that once you plateau weight-loss wise, you HAVE to add aerobic excersise or you will be eating VERY little. An hour 3 or 4 times an week is KEY. :)

I would love to join your buddy group.  Danielle I relate to your story.  This past year I gained 28lbs very quickly, working out 5 days a week doing cardio and lifting weights.  I am going for some tests tomorrow and more at the end of the month.  My doctor says it could still be the aging process since our metabolism slows down.  I have been a vegetarian for almost a year and I am flirting with the vegan/superhero lifestyle.  I have to admit I am slightly computer illiterate.  When/If you set up a check point can you tell me how to get there? I need to loose at least 25lbs.

Danielle, I'm down with a support group! ;)

I lost my weight mostly without exercising. It has reallllly slowed down now, so I can tell that I am going to have to exercise now! What are some fun things you guys do to exercise?
