Your kale is beautiful!!!
This winter I am going to be growing my tomatos indoors. Snowy Illinois wont allow for anything else :/
This is the time to plant GARLIC!!! YUMMY!!!
Your garden is full of great food Alicia, exciting to grow.
im not growing b/c Im in apt with no sun, but lately in LA I have been picking/gathering avos, cherry toms, lemons, carob, sapote, walnuts, pomegranates, cactus pears, nopales, persimmons are coming out! ...all free around my hood : )
I cant wait for the day I can garden on my land in Ecuador.
I can't plant anything now bc Im in an apt too. BUT! My husband & I just bought land in Redding area and will be starting a VEGANIC garden. We will be doing monthly CSA's and selling at farmers markets in the area. If anyone is interested sign up at californiaveganic.com
Mish Devine,
My mom has property in Ecuador too, near Esmeraldas. We thought about (and are still thinking about!) moving down there. We would definitely have fresh fruits and vegetables year round.
Aw Alicia, it literally warms me heart to see beautiful summer growing things in the midst of fall, thank you.
@Mish (Hi!) All those wonderful things...and oh my gosh nopales, I love them! You can clean and steam or roast them (or best yet, cook them on a comal - LOL!) and make the prettiest little (or not so little depending on your nopal) "tostadas" - beans, salsa, onion, "crema", cilantro - whatevah!
aww man that looks delicious! i wish i could have a garden... but i live in an apartment with no area that gets enough direct sunlight :(
NADA, ZIP, ZILCH!
Cheryl Devine,
I grew up 50-miles north of Redding....in Dunsmuir. Small World!
you see, that is part of the reason i want to move to cali....
In the summer I grew lettuce for the first time and that was amazing. Also sweet peppers, basil, tomatoes and habanero peppers. Now I planted carrots and radishes from seed. They seem to be coming along nicely. Also cabbage, brussel spouts and broccoli. Something is eating the leaves, probably snails so we will see how that goes.
It's great to have fresh veggies to just pick out of the garden. This is the first year that I tried it. I think that I will plant more next year.
I just picked the last of my tomatoes and peppers last week before they could freeze. No matter how small the space though, you can always grow something. I have a couple jars I grow sprouts in year-round. =)
i wont be growing anything here during the winter... west coast of canada yeah not so much.
@ty-k berry i grew up in little shasta/montague area. small world.
Dtown,
