my mom’s empty cosmetic containers...

OMG - that is hysterical!! Now she can drop them off at Origins so they can recycle them and give her a free sample!

My Mum is the same and she's passed it on to me too - I hate waste. I never stock up on anything - always use every last drop before buying a new product.

I do the same thing with my tubes of product. It really works well to get every last drop! I like to make sculptures and art work out of the empty bottles. It's the perfect way to recycle and create something beautiful at the same time!

I love this! I like to take the empty bottles and make artwork out of them! sculpting with trash is the best way to recycle!

I ALWAYS do this, and not just with cosmetics containers! Shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, hand soap, toothpaste--almost every container can be used up and then most can be recycled! What a great role model!! (^o^)

Yep, me too.  I always do this as well.  You'd be surprised how many more applications of the product you get but cutting the tube.  Or how much is wasted by throwing the tube out as is.

Ha! Ha!  That's funny - it totally reminds me of me!  My husband always looks at me kind of weird when I cut the tubes like that! smiley-wink.gif

I do that as well hehe :)) Never thought what would be the reason for that. Guess can be the liking of the product that you are currently using, and not wanting to loose a single drop of it ;-))

I can honestly say, I've NEVER thought of doing this. I don't know why, it just never came to me. Thank you so much for sharing your mom's great habits, Alicia! I will be doing this from now on.

MOMS ROCK :)  My mom does the same thing, and so do I.  If people took 10 seconds to cut the package open, they would be AMAZED how much make-up is left in the tube or bottle they are getting ready to pitch.

Aw, my mom does the exact same thing.

I thought I was the only one who did this!  Love it! :)

Now I think of Alicia's mom when I'm in the shower mixing water into the shampoo bottle so that I can use up the very last bit of it!!!  How funny is that?!?!

This is why I prefer buying toiletries in SMALL sizes, because I like to use every drop. AND I love trying new products. AND I don't use products that often. SO I must buy small ones so I don't waste and can get to my next product after.

I thought I was the only one that did that!  My husband is always saying "can I throw these empty bottles away?  there is nothing in them!"  I am like, NO WAY, there is still product in there...even if there is a drop or a dime size amount left, you know for sure I will cut that baby open and get it.

If you have never done this, do it...you will be shocked at how many more applications/uses you can get out of something you would of otherwise thrown away!
