I have been a vegan for a week now but I don't seem to have any detox symptoms. What have you all experienced? Am I not eating the right foods? Should I be feeling something? I am feeling better overall, but I don't feel any kind of extreme change...
I did not have any detox symptems either. I was a vegetarian that ate whole grains, beans, soy, and lots of vegetables and fruit, so to switch to vegan only meant no longer eating dairy, eggs, honey and such.
I think it must depend on how much you change your diet. I do feel better mentally now that I am no longer eating animal products.
I read about detox symptoms on this forum and in books but my patients never report them. When the diet is right you should feel good.
Going off caffeine or sugar will make some people sick though.
I've been vegetarian for 3wks with the addition of getting off the coffee and switching to tea. For the first week and a half I experience severe skin break out, but as of late it's been clearing up pretty well. I'm eating a lot of grains, more fruits than veggies but I blame that on the fact I've been working over 40hrs a week and haven't had the time to prowl the stores. That's probably my only detox symptom, OH and mild headaches from the high caf. withdrawal

i've been following the superhero/vegan diet for 3 1/2 weeks and am just starting to see detox symptoms now. The first couple of days I felt super tired and sick, but it passed quickly. Now I'm starting to break out and experience extreme dryness... My skin has gotten really dry and I'm always very thirsty (never had this issue before). Does anyone know if this dryness is a part of the detox or am I doing something wrong?
I did not see detox symptoms in the first week or two... However after that I experienced some bloating, more thirst than usual (so I think thirst is normal, Liz) and my face and back broke out more. I never really had breakout issues on my back. In going into about month as vegan, the back breakouts are healing and my face is clearer than it has been in a *long time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that will continue! I don't know if I will still experience any more detox symptoms... but I feel great and I'm very optimistic thanks to everyone's support here :)
I've been vegan for a little over four weeks now and really just started feeling the detox about a week ago. I didn't connect the dots, but about two weeks ago the skin on my face became extremely dry and flaky (I kept joking that I was molting). That finally resolved itself. Now I'm starting to feel so much better. Even with the detox symptoms I still feel better than I ever have in my life.
