rebecca’s weight loss and new voice!

Nice story, it is very awesome to wake up to stop consuming animal products not only for the sake of other animals however in realization of one's better health condition.     Very cool.

Hey friday, your voice sounds better too! I think positive thoughts will return to you. Be well.

Rebecca that is so amazing!!! I love these inspiring stories.  Thanks for sharing and keep on singing!

This is great.  Sounds like my story, I've lost 32 pounds since I've become a vegetarian.  At first I was just trying to reduce the meat and dairy as well, but since reading The Kind Diet, Fast Food Nation and Skinny Bitch, I've given up meat completely.  I'm still struggling to give up cheese completely.

Wow way to go!

Hi Rebecca,

I'm so glad you posted this.  Also glad to hear I'm not the only one!

I've been writing songs on the piano and "trying" to sing for 10 years now, (I'm 23) and after I started cutting out dairy and meat, and eating tons of veggies and fruits, I noticed a GIANT change in my voice.  It just got crystal clear.  It's no longer a struggle for me to sing anymore.  I used to be so self conscious to sing in front of people because I never thought I was any good, and now I'm so happy to sing and play piano for anyone at any time!  It barely takes me any time to warm up.   I guess all the dairy in my diet was causing so much inflammation and phlegm, that it was such a strain on my voice!  Thanks to this change in diet, I am now in the middle of working on an album with a recording studio that liked what they heard!   I even did an open mic night a few weeks ago!  It was great, I've gotten so many compliments on my voice.  Hopefully the album will be ready in a couple of months, I can't wait to share it with the world!

This isn't the only benefit I've noticed from eating this way ( maintaining a healthy weight, not getting sick when everyone else is, TONSSS more energy, no sluggish feelings, clear thinking, better memory) and I just feel beautiful!!!  I feel like I'm finally at peace with the world in which we live, AAANDDD I'm not causing harm to the environment and animals.  There are so many benefits to this lifestyle, and I just wish that everyone could experience and see for themselves what it can do for them.

Cheers all my beautiful people out there, and thanks Alicia for being strong, and leading the way.

You can hear a couple songs on piano, and one that was recorded on my friends computer a year ago at www.myspace.com/hilaryliza

This story makes me so joyful, I can relate! The dark green salad with cashews makes me salivate. The key is really to learn to listen to your body, but clean out all the toxins AND toxic "foods" first. Today marks one year for me becoming vegetarian, and I must say I have finally been able to come off dairy in the past two months. I found almond milk now that does not have any soy! Yay! I will also say that after having no dairy and sticking to my experiment my tastebuds are so ALIVE (that's the only word that can explain it!) even MORE than when I gave up all meat. Honestly, cheese now tastes very heavy, like it's difficult for my digestive system to process. I still do like cheese, but I wouldn't eat it every day as I used to.

Cheers to you Rebecca!

Hello! My first time posting here. I have to second  Rebecca's story and the changes to one's voice once you go vegan. I am not a professional singer, but I was a part of the choir when I was in university, and I kept applying my coaching and developing my voice for years after. I became vegan six months ago (in part inspired by Alicia!). My voice is much, much clearer than it's ever been, and I have much more flexibility than I've ever had. The transition from chest to head voice and my breathing technique are effortless, and my  vocal muscles feel more relaxed. Of course, there have been other changes as well in other areas - weight loss, softer skin, easier shaving, more energy, better sleep, increased sex drive (sorry if this is too much information!), less tension, and who knows what else.

Thanks, Rebecca, for sharing your experiences, and thanks to Alicia for all the light she brings into the world!

Welcome Tomas - I love logging on here to read all these great stories!

I agree.  I have noticed my lung capacity is better.  I have only been eating as a vegan for a week and I am already feeling the benefits of this lifestyle.  I can run longer and have much more energy during the day.  My body is shaping already into something leaner and thinner and my mind feels fantastic.  I too felt the dizziness and ended up in a local health food store and she gave me some supplements to help with the transition.  They are 100% vegan and now that I'm eating much better because I know what it is my body needs (it tells me when I listen closely) I feel fantastic.  I am slowly tricking my family into changing their meals too.  They don't realize that I've substituted alot of their foods for veggies.  I've cut back their meat intake in half and their cheese is no longer dairy!  My husband drinks alot of milk, so I bought organic.  I figure if he's going to drink it and put it in his cereal, I'd better make sure its a little more healthy for him.  But everything has a vegan substitute and that makes it easy!  The best part of this lifestyle is.........MY GROCERY BILL HAS BEEN CUT BY 25%!  That makes me smile that much more!   LOVE this life.  Thanks Alicia!
