Soy Milk...Orange Juice...Almond Milk....
This goes with my Cereal question....I would like to get away from Soy Milk and wonder what I can put on my cereal once I get completely away from the "milk".
I just gave up soy milk and use almond milk.  I recently bought unsweetened (vanilla, I think) almond milk at Trader Joe's and it is delicious.  I use it on cereal, my morning oatmeal and any other recipe that calls for "milk".    I love it!
Almond Dream, Unsweetened Almond Milk. It's only 30 calories per cup and is fortified with vitamins like B12, A, D, and calcium. It is really good too!
Enjoy!
Peace,
Cassi
All the "milks" are processed so if you're trying to get away from that part of it, you might try making your own. I don't know how but I'm sure you could google recipes.
There are a few good homemade milk recipes in How It All Vegan by Sarah Kramer.
Almond milk is super easy. You soak 1/2 to a cup of almonds overnight depending on how much you want to make.
place soaked almonds in the blender with 2-4 cups of water
I use 2 cups for 1/2 cup soaked almonds and 4 for 1 cup soaked almonds.
Blend well
throw in 1-3 pitted dates for sweetness or vanilla or whatever you like
strain through nutmilk bag or cheesecloth
Thank you guys for your responses...so soy milk isn't good for us?  Almond milk that is 30 cal a cup sounds really fantastic.  Making it myself doesn't sound too hard either.  Thanks!
Soy milk is fine I think, but you don't want to overdo it with too many soy products (soy milk, soy cheese, tofu, soy ice cream etc.).
If you do not want a processes milk substitute product, you can take a look at my homemade sweet vanilla almond milk that I just posted on my blog

It is sooooo good!
And it is raw, vegan, unprocessed! The best choice in my opinion!
Silk has an almond milk now and I'm dying to try it.  I printed out a coupon on the website.  I grew to love Silk plain soymilk almost 6 years ago when my daughter started drinking it(after mommy's milk of course) due to lactose intolerances.  Its my favoriate brand of soy milk products so I'm guessing/hoping they do a great almond milk product too.

Soy in most forms is indeed bad for you. The food industry is behind the lie that soy is a superfood.

The Silk Almond milk in "original" tastes absolutely amazing.  It's rich, creamy, and just a little sweet.  I agree that the healthiest option is making your own almond milk, but be aware it won't last as long!  Raw stuff spoils faster which is fine, but just don't make too much...Also, does anyone know what to do with the almond pulp you get after making your own milk?  Because I don't know what to do with all that pulp, I shy away from making my own almond milk.

How about rice milk? I never put milk in my cereal but  now I wanted to give it a try. I found an article in Whole Living that recommends rice milk for cereals.  Is it any good?  I've never had any vegan milks before.
