St. Patty's recipes needed please
I have only just started this healthier vegan lifestyle a week ago-- and I am thinking of St. Patrick's Day approaching, which is a big deal at my house each year...

I would sincerely appreciate ideas/recipes I can serve that are family friendly that are enjoyed those not vegan as well. The rest of my family is not willing to give up meat at this point, but I was hoping to prepare some things they will enjoy so perhaps they will consider trying it out as well. I don't want to be tempted by what used to be my favorite-- corned beef..

Thanks for your help!
Shawn-Marie
I am going to a St Patricks day dinner party and I am taking Spinach Dip (subbing dairy and mayo for vegan replacements) an Irish Soda Bread (recipe from veg news mag) Colcannon (mashed potatoes & cabbage) Oriental Cabbage Salad (because its green and Im craving it) I think I am going to add Seitan to it and let the meat eaters think its chicken. :-) ~ And I havn't decided on a dessert yet... Im probably going to go with cupcakes decorated for the holiday. (The host is making lots of food, I just want lots of alternatives to eat. And I will take leftovers over to my moms. :-)

I googled vegan corned beef and found this:

Hope this helps!

THANK YOU so much, it all sounds soo yummy!! What a fun party to go to!

I found a vegan corned-beef recipe on a blog. Here's the link http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/03/vegan-corned-beef-and-cabbage-roasted.html  . I've never made this particular recipe but I've tried others from this site and always had good result. This is probably what I'll try for St.Patty this year. Maybe with a soda bread. Yum! I'll let you know if I find something else. Have a nice day!

Susan has the most amazing (and super easy to make) colcannon puffs here on her site: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2009/03/colcannon-puffs.html

my spouse and i made these and loved 'em - you could sub in cabbage for the collards: http://happyveganface.blogspot.com/2009/04/lentil-stuffed-collards-n-easy-marinara.html

Susan also has a vegan corned beef & cabbage recipe: http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/03/vegan-corned-beef-and-cabbage-roasted.html

we looooved Lindsay's whole wheat soda bread: http://happyherbivore.com/2008/11/whole-wheat-beer-bread/ (so easy to make and sooooooooooooo gooooood!)

and here's one rock'n veggie guiness pie (the guiness stout IS NOT VEGAN, but you can use another stout and it will be just as awesome: www.cupcakepunk.wordpress.com/2009/03/03/guinness-pie
Here's full Irish vegan meal:

Here's a white bean and cabbage stew which is what I'm leaning towards:

And don't forget to start the day with some Irish oats.
