Stir Fry...is it good for weight loss
I have only eaten as a vegan since January 31st, but I can honestly say that I do not miss the meat, dairy or even the sugar.  In fact I had some sweet potatoes at a restaurant and they had too much brown sugar on it and I didn't like them.

One thing I eat a lot for supper is a stir fry.  I will combine frozen and fresh vegetables...sometimes add some baby lima beans or another bean, and then eat it with some brown rice.  I know it is healthy, but is it a good meal for weight loss?  i have lost 10 pounds since I started, but it really isn't going any further...and I have at least 150 pounds to lose.
HI Laurie.  I eat stir fry at least twice a week and I have lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks so far.  I use mostly fresh veggies (mushrooms, onions, bean sprouts, carrots, zucchini) and add some shoyu and then fried noodles that I get at my local farmer's market.  It's all healthy stuff so I can't see why it wouldn't be good for weight loss.  Congrats on the 10 pounds and keep up the great work!  You'll get to your goal.  smiley-smile.gif  Kristin
You can also use spaghetti squash as your 'noodles'. When I make my veggie stir fry I always use spaghetti squash as my base and I add zucchini, mushrooms, chopped red bell pepper, sugar snap peas, onions and sometimes red cabbage too.
Mmm that sounds delicious Kelly.  Thank you for the tip on the spaghetti squash!
Thanks for the feedback.  It all sounds really good.  Congratulations in losing the 15 pounds in 5 weeks.  What do you typically eat for breakfast?  I usually have a smoothie with 1 frozen banana, blueberries, flax seeds, and rice milk plus I usually have steel cut oats as well.  I used to eat more veggies a breakfast with an egg white omelet, but now I'm not eating eggs.  Maybe I should just fix the veggies like I used to...and only add some tofu with it for the protein.  I really want this to work because I have so far to go.
Hi Laurie, Just wanted to say congrats on losing 10 pounds, and dont lose focus of your overall goal, in the process of losing weight you are also ridding your body of past bad eating habits and transitioning to a very healthy lifestyle.  I think stir-fry a couple of nights a week is not bad so long as you keep the salt and olive oil levels to a minimum.  Good luck!!!  :)
