The Pill made me fat

No really, it did. I went off it temporarly and lost 10 pounds in a week. When I started taking it again, I gained 20 pounds.

I'm so frustrated with my doctor telling me that the Pill has nothing to do with weight gain. I told him that I wanted to lose weight, and you know what he said? "Eat less." Gee, thanks. 

I've tried Alicia's weight loss tea regimen... and that didn't help one bit (and it tasted bad!). I've tried to "eat less," but always end up feeling weak and shaky. I don't know what to do.

Do any of you know of some easy, cheap, and yummy snacks? The kind where I won't feel guilty for eating ten handfuls of the stuff, but also feel full afterwards?

Hi Andie,

 sorry to hear you're so frustrated. I've been on the pill for years now. I did go off it for about 8 mths after going vegan. After that I did make the very hard decision to start taking them again. What I  learned though is that the pill makes you hungry which is why people think it makes them fat. I definetly noticed a difference once I went back on it. I try to make healthy food choices and exercise.

The snacks I prefer are fruits, veggies and nuts (in moderation). I also try to have really good nourishing meals so that I don't get really hungry in between. Another snack I love to make is popcorn. I have an air popper so I just pop up a batch and eat it with my kids.

My best advice is NOT to eat less. It's to eat more fruits and veggies! Fruits and veggies (not the starchy ones like potatoes tho) tend to contain more water and fiber than other foods. They are big in volume but low in calorie density. That will help keep you fuller, longer, and more satisfied. Snack on apples, pears, celery, carrots, cucumber, etc etc whenever you feel hungry or snackish.

Hey kat, what you say about the Pill making you hungry makes a lot of sense to me. I feel hungry all the time! 

Mary, thanks for the snack suggestions. I just wish that I enjoyed raw vegetables more... :P
