Those last 10 pounds!!!

I am so grateful for Alicia and this new kinder life. I feel better all the way around and really have embraced this new chapter in my life. I have lost ten pounds or so, but am having one heck of a time with those last 10.

Does anyone have any tips for kicking off those last 10 for good? I could use some tips and accountability. I think I will start by decreasing my consumption of grains, possibly just have them with my breakfast. Any other advice would be fabulous.

Peace,

Cassi

Help? Anyone successful in this endeavor?

Well, I'm not successful, per se. I've lost 25 lb. and still have 105 to go. :S Plus, right now I am on a plateau. Here's what I am going to do about it: no more using oil, I already don't eat processed food, veggie-load!, drink lots more water, and exercise! Yup, hoping this works. You might have to exercise more than you do now to get the weight off. Or just ask yourself if it's really that important to lose weight. You might look good where you are at and your body might be happy at that weight. When I get closer to my goal weight, I am going to reevaluate my "dream" weight. Because really, when you've been 130 lb. overweight, 10 lb seems like nothing! Good luck! :)

Thank you for the advice! You are well on your way, congratulations on your success! I am sure my 10 pounds seems silly. If I were not an entertainer I would be happy with my body, but I am preparing for some big changes, touring with my band etc, and I need to be at the top of my game to excel as a performer and maintain stamina. Our music is fast paced and high energy, losing the first 10+pounds has been tremedously helpful and I know the last 10 would push me to the next level. I am also asthmatic, so I have been doing tons of cardio so I can dance and sing withougt missing a note.

I think I will be eliminating grains after breakfast and loading up on tons of veggies and fruit for dessert.

Best to you and your weight loss! Here's to great health and happiness!

I would advise you to still have some grains at diner, whole grains are good for your indegestion and energy! eat grains and not pasta nor potatoas... Also eat lots of soups, they have more nutricien than water but fill you up more and are healthy. I dont know if you eat miso already but i would advise that. If you want to eliminate something, dont eat everyday fruit, sometimes drink Kukicha tea for desert, and some days fruit. :)

Good luck!

Oh and fry veggies in water instead of oil :)

fatfreevegan has a lot of nice recepis so you can still eat healthy!

I lost 35 pounds hoop dancing. I bought my hoop from www.hoopnotica.com and I rented the dvd's from netflix and used youtube tutorials. I hoop for about 2 hours a day.

I've noticed when I eat too many starches I pack on the weight. I got sick earlier this week and I let myself eat all the rice and bagels I wanted and now I am up 4 pounds. I also have been drinking iced tea with sugar. So that certainly didn't help.

I have also had success in the past with Tae Bo.

Don't be discouraged because it will drop off quickly. You can totally do it. Good luck.

I would also like to lose those last few pounds (kilos where I come from!)... what do people who have had success with weight loss eat when peckish for something sweet?

I always go for strawberries or blueberries. Maybe grab some raisins. But I let myself cave now and then and just enjoy it because as soon as I put something off limits, all bets are off. :P

Thank you for all the advice! I think consistency is going to be the most crucial with these last 10. I know our bodies, as women, are designed to hold on for child bearing reasons. I already do pretty intense workouts, so I am going to add more cardio and really try to stick around 1200-1400 calories per day. I am thinking I will stick with oatmeal and fruit in the mornings, since it will for sure get burned off, and have mostly veggies and veggie soup for lunch/dinner/snack. When I need something sweet I will have a little fruit, that's way better than chocolate and makes me feel better too ;) I will keep you posted on my progress and I hope all of you reach your health goals as well!

Maybe I will also try to find a yummy decaf tea to have for dessert.

Thank you!

good luck cassie! i just lost 25 pounds and am trying to lose the last 5! i eat mostly whole grains, veggies and lots of beans. not as much fruit as i'm partially superhero. i think if you do what ur saying above and just stick to whole grain and whole foods the last 10 pounds should come off nicely.

oh yah, and not sure if you saw that water study about weight loss. they say ppl who ate a calorie reduced diet along with 2 glasses of water before a meal lost 5 pounds more than the ones who didn't drinnk the water. the theory is you feel fuller and are more hydrated so you eat less. the participants said they felt more alert. alertness helps with being able to decipher whether you are hungry or thirsty.

its my new plan! 2 glasses of water before a meal.

Hmmm, I heard that can help too, but I also heard drinking water 30 min before, during or 30 min after meals prevents much of the nutrients from food being absorbed. I guess it would be a trade while trying to lose the last 10.
