treats in detroit

That almond butter looks amazing! Do you know if they ship nationwide, or are they stictly a local brand?

The Naturally Nutty nut butter are available for purchase online. I can't find them in the health food stores here in Orange County, CA.

Here's the link to their online store: http://stores.homestead.com/NaturallyNuttyFoodsInc/StoreFront.bok

You can also buy these on Amazon.com

SeaSnax are made in LA...nori snax. They are delish but I dont do anymore b/c I dont eat salt and oil   http://www.seasnax.com/web/

Yeah, almond butters aren't really my thing- outside of eating fresh fruits and veggies, grains, nuts, rice protein, (and the occasional Sweet & Sara treat).....I only drink Almond Milk in my smoothies (making my way towards switching my smoothies to be mixed with other liquids than that as well.....and in my cereal).....but the almond butter looks good I'll give a heads up to my friends about it!!

krysten ritter is so cute!!!

You should come visit my COOP in Portland, OR.

I love avalon bakery!  People's food co-op in Ann Arbor carries their cookies.  The "Chandler Chocolate chip cookie" is crazy awesome, i can barely make it home before eating them.  I think it has coconut flakes in it.  If your in Detroit you've gotta try it.

wow, the nut butters on that site sound amazing.. definitely have to look into one of their sampler packs :)

Alicia can I just say that I love how you're showcasing great things in our great state!  Naturally Nutty nut butters rock, I've posted about them quite a bit on my blog and have been lucky enough to meet the owner, my favorites are the pepita and sunbutters.  Just in case you missed Inn Season Cafe in Royal Oak, I'd recommend it.  Another cafe opening soon is Cacao Tree Cafe (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Royal-Oak-MI/Cacao-Tree-Cafe/151578668197964)  Some of my favorite local things are live foods from Living Zen Organics  (http://www.detroitzencenter.org/livingzen.htm)  Their kale salad and living bread are so wonderful!  Eden foods is also a great local company.  My absolute favorite local thing is our Ann Arbor Farmer's Market!  So glad you're enjoying your time in Michigan =)  I made your Creamy Sweet Kabocha Squash Soup last night again for my family.  It's simple, genius, and so delicious!!!  Thank you =)

If you are in or around Detroit you should check out Sasha Farm.  It is the midwest's largest farm animal sanctuary, located in Manchester, MI.  They have a vegan potluck every once in a while including this Saturday at 2pm.  Go to:  www.sashafarm.org to learn about the farm and the animals.  It is an amazing place!!

As far as favorite treats go:  Garden Fresh Salsa offers tons of vegan salsas and hummus options.  There chips are delicious too.  They are a fantastic MICHIGAN company from Ferndale.  www.gardenfreshsalsa.com.

Lastly, go to Amici's Pizza in Berkley.......yum.  Lots of fresh toppings and vegan cheese options.  it is so good!!

People's Organic co-op in Ocean Beach, CA This place rocks & is so great for the environement & community

This is a grocery store with a deli upstairs similar to other grocery stores. Accept people's is completely organic & vegan. They make the yummiest desserts & treats along with great entrees, sides, soups, salads & more. My favorite is the goddess bars(mixed nuts held together with peanut butter & maple syrup mixed in with carob chips) & peanut butter cookies.

Carob peanut butter just sounds so incredibly delicious. I absolutely love CAROB smiley-kiss.gif

AW!!!!!!!!! all th esturants sound ssssssooo good and so cute, wish i could be there and visit thoes places...

Energy bars are not one of the things I eat but I was at the grocery store in Central Point,OR and they had samples of a new Odwalla energy bar with 500mg of Spirulina in it. The name is the "Original Bar,Superfood" and it wasn't bad. I am going to try the recipe in TKL that Woody Harrelson's family has for breakfast, "Crocodile Crunch".  The carob peanut butter could be very dangerous!
