So I woke up today with a UTI. Needless to say I am miserable. It did however make me wonder if my diet has anything to do with it. You see I'm not vegan but I am vegetarian(5 months now, Nov. 1st !!!!!) , I have this love affair with cheese. I really thought I could never give it up, I don't drink milk or eat ice-creamor take in dairy any other way but I can' t seem to leave the cheese alone. Then today in my discomfort I though maybe cheese has something to do with it, all my like dairy has made me feel thick and sluggish. I don't know, maybe its crazy or completely unrelated but I just wondered , is it coincidence or is cheese making me sick ?? Any ideas??
I went about a year and a half without eating meat, with very little dairy and only the occasional egg. Then, to try and cut grocery costs, my SO and I started ordering the Angel Food Network boxes, which come with meat. I ate meat a few times a week for several months. Every month, usually around my monthly cycle, I would start having UTI symptoms. I usually caught it pretty quickly and started downing the cranberry juice and water, so it never got extreme, but still very sucky.
The point, you're wondering... ; ) Well, for the past 3 months I haven't had any meat (did have some cheese as we finished up the stash of Totino's pizzas in the freezer; I know, bad girl). And, for the past 3 months, no UTI's. Not one symptom! So, yes, I think the cheese might very well be doing you in! It's hard, but if you make sure you don't have any in your house, it will be easier to abstain. I would try cutting that out for a few months and see if the problem recurs.
Hey same thing here. I would sometimes get slight symptoms and latley by trying to eat less dairy or no dairy I haven't had ANY symptoms and no discomfort.
I don't know of any scientific evidence but I would definatly think it has something to do with it. Maybe its the antibiotics or hormones?
Just down that cranberry juice and pick up some suplements. Good Luck!
