Vegan Alternatives
Hello everyone!
I have been a vegetarian for over a week now and I want to change some of my diary products and such to the vegan alternative. But what can replace them and where can I find them?

Also which items do you enjoy the most that you replaced them with? [cheese, yogurt, milk, icecream]
Well alternatives would be almond, rice, oat, hemp, coconut and soy.  Try them all, see what taste appeal to you most.  Try to have variety so you're not over doing it with to much of one thing.

One thing I love is Purely Decadent Coconut "ice cream"- No dairy.  It's truly an amazing treat to have every once in a while.

I tend to use rice milk the most because I found a good one that's organic and seems to work for a lot of my milk needs.

I find dairy alternatives at local health food stores, or Trader Joe's or Wholefoods.  Also local supermarkets tend to have small organic/ natural sections.

Good luck!  :-)

My big thing to give up has been cheese. I found some vegan cheese at Walmart a couple of days ago. It's okay, so I think I'll have it here n there.

I've heard nutritional yeast is an excellent substitute for cheese, though I haven't tried it myself, all the vegans I know absolutely swear by it!
